Extra pats and treats for Abbey. She may need reassurance.
— ah. I see you’ve been taking care of that.
Findus is going to be just fine. That’s a high- confidence kit you’ve got there.

Goo and Findus in proximity. (Four pics.)
Findus appears to be wondering whether a determined cat couldn’t get out that window.
The right-hand door is open just a crack.
I rescued Summer about 12 years ago. She had lived in the woods by my workplace for several months and raised two kittens through a terrible winter. When I brought her in, she was so happy. She loved it. I had 2 other cats and when the time came for face-to-face introductions, she was incredibly smart about it. She would never back down when they hissed or growled. She would look them right in the eyes as if to say “I know it’s your house but I’m not going anywhere”. Then she would turn around. “Smell my butt.” It was amazing. I’ve never seen a cat so determined to fit in and it worked. They were all fast friends in just a few days.
Findus seems the determined type. He’s won Goo over and I hope he and Abbey become friends very soon.
Goo still hisses at him, but Findus isn’t giving up.
I thought CatMom was out in the Catio, but she wasn’t, and the door was open a few inches. Findus slipped out. It was his first time, so he just sort of looked around. When I went to retrieve him, he went under the generator (which is mounted on a dolly I made for it). I went back inside and kept an eye open. When he came out, I coaxed him back into the house.
I thought he looked in that picture like a cat intending to go out!
— if it’s an enclosed catio, why shouldn’t he?
Noisy altercation just now. Findus had been shut in CatMom’s room so he could get his morning ration of gooshy food. CatMom opened the door after an appropriate amount of time, and Goo went in. I’m in the living room, and I heard, ‘Reow-reow-reow!’ Apparently Goo went in and was batting at Findus, and Findus wasn’t backing down. And then… CatMom said Findus chased Goo!
Very high confidence cat.
It’s enclosed with 2-inch wide by 4-inch high fencing. That might be enough for him to get out – or get his tiny head stuck. It’s also open at the top, though [knock wood] he doesn’t seem to be a climber.
Ah. That makes sense.
When my parents had a cat enclosure — well before I ever heard the word “catio” — they had chicken wire over the top. IME, kittens climb like crazy.
Findus went to the vet today. He got two shots. He has ear mites, so we got some Revolution (?) flea drops that also work on ear mites. Our paperwork said Findus weighed 3.5 pounds before we adopted him. Today he weighed in at 4.82 pounds. ![]()
Goo head-butted Findus this afternoon/evening. ![]()
Whooo! Big progress there.
So when does Findus get the snip?
He already has.
I don’t speak cat, but the emoji indicates this is a good thing. Glad he’s gaining weight - do you think he might end up bigger than Goo or Abbey?
Yay!
Friendship coming.
Yes, head-butts are a good thing.
Goo’s birthday is 06/22/2013, and she’s 12 years old.
Abbey’s birthday is 06/03/2020, and she’s 5 years old.
Findus was about four months old when we adopted him.
Three kitties in the kitchen as I dished up the food, with no hissing. I took Findus’s food to the bedroom, as usual. Abbey actually ate all of her food. She gets ⅛ of a can, and she rarely eats it all. Goo finishes it off. This time, Goo got little more than the smell.
