The label didn't say THIS!

When a gentleman reaches a certain age, he worries about his youth. I for one, resent losing hair AND having what remains turn gray.

I experimented with a well-known men’s hair coloring that promises to darken the gray hair slowly and subtly. And sure enough, it is doing that. My temples are turning a natural-looking brunette.

Just one small problem. My original hair color is CHESTNUT BROWN! So now I look like I have the worst idea for a bad hairpiece ever invented – light brown in some spots, dark brown in others, bald on top and gray hair liberally interspersed through it all.

I look like a worn out shag rug.

Is there something different about you? You lost some weight, right?

IMHO, when it comes to coloring your hair, it is always best to go to a professional. Despite what all of the commercials and labels say, it’s hard to get it to look right if done at home. I’m sure a good hairdresser / colorist could get it looking good in no time.

Also, it’s probably not as bad as you think. We are always more critical of ourselves than other people are.

Hey, at least you didn’t have to resort to aerosol hair. (Thank you Ron Popeil)

Ditto on let the professionals do it. I mean, it’s your hair, man!

What kind of bald? Is it the kind where your hair recedes on the sides and leaves a little tuft in the front? Because, that’s scary, and if so, you should just shave your head. I’m a big proponent of that. I currently have a head full of bushy, curly fro-puff hair, but I’ve sworn to myself, that if I ever go bald partially, I’m shaving it all off. It just looks better.

So, perhaps you should give that a shot. Otherwise, if it still looks good, follow tevya’s advice, and get a professional to handle it. It costs more, but if you’re in the business to look “professional,” you’re probably “professional” enough to afford it.

Alternatively, go for the Picard look. (Very sexy bald head!) [sub]That really wasn’t supposed to sound so filthy…[/sub]

I think it looks better going grey naturally. Seriously. If you’re talking about “Just for Men”, I think most of the guys look better in the before pictures.

I think everyone should go au naturel (their hair! their hair! - hey, what are you looking at?). While I don’t really have that much vanity about grey hair, guys can get away with that. I’d like to see a day when women can get away with the same thing. Alas, that is a subject for another thread!
