The last in 2011 MMP

Glad Gnat is doin’ better LiLi.

BBBobbio purty don’t count when it comes to foodstuff. I say, “whacha gonna do, eat it or look at it?”

Chikin noodle soup and bread was tasty. I bought a loaf of frozen bread. Not too bad.

Turkey is always good A[sup]2[/sup]. I make turkey ‘n dressin’ a couple of times durin’ the year just cause. Turkey Day dindin in the middle of Summer is teh num!

And that’s the news from swampland.

Yeah. The gangrene, nerve damage to the eyes, and possible coma and brain damage haunt me. So far Gnat’s under reasonable control for a little guy, but they did an enormous study some time back that proved that even with huge amounts of support and general assistance, it was impossible for adults with Type 1 to keep their numbers better than 75% acceptable. So days where we only get two wonky readings out of four are fine, and three out of four are perfect.

I should clean and go to bed, just in case TomKitten decides to be horrible in the night again.

Thanks for the pep talk Swampy. It helped - sort of. I have done a bunch of stuff but not what I was supposed to do.

I emptied the dishwasher and reloaded it. I put the soda cans in the returns bag. I moved the spare table and my crafting supplies to the spare bedroom. I neatened up the purses that I’m supposed to be listing on eBay. I fed the dogs. I balanced the checkbook (Old Navy charged Sweetie twice for the clothes he just bought - jackasses). Made a fire in the fireplace. Checked the mail (got my official final transcript today which confirms that as of 12/27/2011, I is a colidge grajooit.
The one thing I haven’t done - my assessment. Sigh.

Methinks I’ll start the purse sale by listing them in the Marketplace and only on eBay if they don’t sell here. eBay is a PITA.

I’m sorry to read about Gnat, **LiLi. ** Sending hugs and good thoughts to him and all of you.

The cold is worse and working it’s way down to my chest. I could just kill the guy who I gave it to me and my co-worker. She stayed home today. I couldn’t, because of a project that had to be done.

The good news is that I’m off work until Tuesday, so hopefully I’ll be pretty much recovered by then.

Bah! I cannot breathe and I can’t taste anything either. I haven’t had cold this bad, this quick in a loooooong time.

I’d go sit out on the couch and relax, but hubby is sitting out there reading and has the fireplace going. I’m trying to stay away from him so he doesn’t catch this crap too. Besides, with the fireplace going, the room is just too warm and stuffy for me. That’s saying a lot, because it’s a big room.

Well, I did it. Out of the 24 questions on the assessment, I answered 15 and I got 10 of them right. Since anything under 11 correct requires taking precalculus, I’m exactly where I thought I should be.
I also put a bunch of purses in the marketplace so if you’re a purse kinda gal (or guy :D), take a look!

It’s entirely possible that I am the first person in history to do this…
Before he went to bed, I asked Sweetie for a honey-do list. :smack:
I really need to find a better way to deal with the boredom because half the things he mentioned involve ladders.
I’m so bored that I can’t even sleep.

Morning. Up, caffeinated, off to irk. My “just friend” is going to the beach for New Years. Roomie is also going to the beach for New Years, leaving me and the dogs here. 3 males in a house full of booze on New Years Eve, what could possibly go wrong?

Congrats on being where you should be, Shortdrum.

Hope Gnat’s home soon, LiLI.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 47 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 70 and possibly some rain. Rah.

shortdrum glad you got your assessment done. Ok, your “honey do” list involves use of a ladder. Ummm… let me guess… I know! He wants you to re-roof the house!

Feel better soon Taters! Drink lots of liquids and get plenty of rest. I leave it up to you to decide on what kind of liquids. I will mention that whiskey is good for a cold.

Have you started packin’ yet Spaz? Do I need to lecture? :dubious:

I need caffiene. Also, rumbly tummy is very demandin’ this mornin’. I think it wants grits and aigs. With cheese. Then, alas, irk purtification must commence. Oh well, at least it’s Firday and Monday is a holiday. YAY!!!

Happy Firday Y’all!

I done killded the MMP again!

Very sloooooooooooow, very quiet at irk. What’s a bear to do! Oh wait, I have teh intartoobz to entertain me!

I’m here. In spirit at least. I’m sick at my stomach this morning.

Blech.

And here I be! Hope all you sickies feel better, but please stay away from me… no offense…

Idiot dog decided 3 was a good time to poop, and I knew she’d want to pee right away, so it was poop, treat, out again to pee, back to bed. I finally fell back to sleep and made it till almost 8. Then I decided to be productive and clean the carpet stains that I couldn’t be bothered with yesterday. It didn’t take all that long, so yay. Once they dry, I’ll drag out the vacuum and try to get it to take up more hair.

I’ll be glad when my new vacuum is ready for pickup because the old one doesn’t suck worth a damn. **FCD **even took it apart yesterday (with my help - no lifting for him) and we cleaned the accumulated hair out of the brush (most of it mine…) but it didn’t really help. I used the compressor to blow out the filters, but that was pretty useless also. Bottom line, it’s over 7 years old, it’s a cheapie Eureka that has served well but is now dying. I was going to offer it on the freebie section of our local on line classifieds, but that might not be fair, unless I offer it for parts? I hate to toss things that might still have a use.

Other stuff on my to-do-list includes emptying and refilling the dishwasher, and maybe baking something. I think my sweetie needs some medicinal pumpkin pie. Turkey sounds good, too, but I don’t have any, nor do I have room in the freezer right now for leftovers. We’ll need to eat our supply of groceries down a bit before I get a turkey. I’m thinking poke chops will taste good tonight.

I checked out the new tops that were delivered yesterday. Four are good - a black tunic blouse and three fake twinsets - made to look like it’s a sweater over a top, but it’s one piece. Anyway, I have a yellow one, a bright green with rhinestones around the neck, and a red with bands of black sequins down the front. The stoopit listing said it was pink, but it’s definitely red. The reject is a big tunic top with a heavy band of beading around the front neckline. The fabric is your basic old-lady polyester (manufacturers should be required to label it as such) and the band of beading weighs a ton, so it pulls the front of the shirt down. Plus the cut is as flattering as a sack. So it goes back to Sears. Still, I think I’m good for clothes for the cruise.

Today, we’ll get our fish delivery, so the population in the tank will grow. Yay!

Did I mention the other day that I got a notice from OPM in the mail? I thought they were going to tell me that my pension calculations are done and I’ll be getting the correct amount, plus back pay. Nope. They told me that as of January, the fraction I’m getting will go up due to a cost of living raise. A whopping $17!! That’s less than 5 gallons of gas in my car. Woohoo!

But 2011 is nearly over, so there’s that. Who’s gonna ring in the new year with our first MMP of 2012?? Such an auspicious occasion deserves advance planning!!

I can do it. I don’t have anything planned, but I’ll be here.

Unless someone else has an idea?

You’ve got several days to get inspiration, then. We’ll be expecting something phenomenal. No pressure…

That’s right Rebo the first MMP of the year sets the tone for the whole year so it must be well planned and well thought out. Or not. It ain’t like anybody will pay any attention to it beyond the first five or six posts anyways.

It’s purty out. All sunshiny.

I answered a call from somebody wantin’ to update their business directory. She asked all kinds of questions re the organization. I just kept sayin’ “right.” Actually, I was not payin’ a bit of attention as I was more concerned with a game of free cell at the time. Wonder what I might have told her…

FairyChatMom, all I can say is ! Your husband is a brave man for going at it alone as a beginner. I hope he healed up well.

Hot soup and suitable meds and commiseration by the tubful for phouka, Taters, and Dolores’s tummy. My, a lot of us are under the weather this week. I had to take off sick yesterday even though I promised I’d stay in the office until my manager got back from leave…bad Petrichord! Good thing today’s yearend wrapup work is feasible even with one’s head floating somewhere around the ceiling.

Hugs and good wishes to LiLi and Gnat. I hope he’s doing better. Diabetes is a bad bad thing. I’ve only dealt with my sister’s up close (she had it in a gestational way) and that was plenty bad enough.

Don’t panic, rosie, you can do it! Packing always seems overwhelming but the important thing is to get started. Once you tackle it, you’ll be fine. And you’re never alone when there are Dopers all over the place. In fact, if you’re around NYC and you need moving boxes, I’ve got a pile of various sizes from my last move…

Last day of work before a three-day weekend, yay! More opportunity to sleep away the cold.

It’s gone from purty and sunshiny to cloudy and gray over the past 45 minutes. Mayhaps the chance of rain is movin’ on in. I want purty and sunshiny back!

Also, there is a weddin’ happenin’ tomorrow for the son of two of my fellow (fellowess?) churchgoers. Cheese straws are desired. I have had four calls on my cellphone about this. Apparently folk think I’ll just go whip up batches and batches of the things. I said no two weeks ago. I don’t wanna. I have neither the time nor inclination to do so. Ummm… the father of the groom is a doctor. I figure they can afford to go buy the dang things. I should let all calls go to voicemail and change my voicemail greetin’ to say, “if you’re callin’ about cheesestraws the answer is no and don’t leave a message cause the answer will be no.”

Would that be subtle enough?

Ok, that’s my rant o’ the day. We now return you to your regularly scheduled MMP.

swampy, if you were a True Good Guy, you’d have a dedicated freezer full of cheesestraws ready to go at a moment’s notice. So your unwillingness to put your life in the hands of those who demand you bake for them means you’re a Crabby Old Fart.

Hmmmm, I’m pretty sure you’ll wear that badge with pride.

True they freeze nicely but then there’d be less room for ice cream and we just cannot have that now can we! :stuck_out_tongue:

I want a tshirt that says “Crabby Old Fart.” It’d be [del]a great present to give to OYKW[/del] fun to wear.

That’s why I said a dedicated freezer. And a dedicated ice cream freezer, and a dedicated beer fridge. Obviously you’ve got a reading comprehension issue as part of your aging process… :stuck_out_tongue:

FCM, I got that same missive from OPM - mine went up by 40 some $, but then in February it will be going down by over 100 because my health plan costs are going up - so I get the 40 this time, but next time, I lose it plus 60 more!! And I sure hope that they clear things up for your pension soon. I think it all depends on the work load. I guess I left at a “slow” time, thankfully.

I’ve been sick too - probably just ate way too much rich food. I even ordered up a pound of country ham and practically snarfed it down when it arrived, it tasted so good and it had been several years since I’d had any. Now I’m paying for it.

Hope everyone has a safe and happy entrance into 2012.
