So – Will Trumf now sue every performer who signed up and then backed out for billions of trumpbucks, for breach of contract or something?
At this rate they’ll have to settle for some of the acts from the old SNL “Worst of Soul Train” sketch.
Martina McBride is out.

So that means that, of the original nine, only Vanilla Ice and C+C have confirmed that they’re in. Flo Rida has apparently not said anything meaningful, but he did respond to a post on Instagram calling him a “sellout” with a bunch of laugh emojis. Draw your own conclusions.
I find it quite odd that neither Ted Nugent nor Kid Rock, arguably the two “biggest” MAGA musicians (not counting Nicki Minaj, who as mentioned previously, doesn’t make music that stereotypically resonates with MAGA’s stereotypical base), were invited.
The Beach Boys (well, Trump’s pal, Mike Love and some randos) are already booked at the Hollywood Bowl.
So it may be time to have some guesses about who will actually perform at this shit-show.
It seems they may be down to Freedom Williams because “fuck you that’s why”, and Ice ice baby. They’ve gotta get some last minute replacements, or it will be a short (and sad) show.
Or will it be cancelled due to “bad weather” or “Biden’s fault”?
There are a number of country bands and singers who would probably be happy to perform.
Anyone of any note? A publicist would realize that if they perform, they’re probably limiting future sales. This is why performers generally try to avoid events that would alienate approximately half of the buying pubic.
Compare that to the competing Power to the People festival in Baltimore, that’s a line up! (Foo Fighters, Joan Baez, Tom Morello, Public Enemy, Dave Mathews). Unfortunately later in the year in October, I wonder why they couldn’t do it at least close to July 4th?..
Not with Country music. At a guess, I’d say probably 80% of the people who listen to Country radio are MAGA.
Yeah, it seems his decision had less to do with the rightness or wrongness of it all, and more with him doing it out of spite because people tried to tell him not to. That was an easy way for my mom to get me to do shit that I wouldn’t otherwise do – tell me not to.
It sounds to me like that festival is more about energizing liberals prior to the midterm elections in November, rather than being about the Semiquincentennial. Different purpose, different timing.
Young MC said the gig was a “Bait and Switch.”
Young MC Says He Had “No Clue” Freedom 250 Was Trump-Backed
I can see how something like this might happen.
Stars of, say, Springsteen’s and Swift’s magnitude probably have management teams that go over every proposed gig and contract with a fine-toothed comb. If Freedom 250 had extended an offer to them, their people would have been able to discern that this had Trump’s fingerprints all over it, and advised their clients to stay far away.
Whoever is representing Young MC and Milli Vanilli these days, however, is probably just happy to take what job offers are on the table, whether they be a county fair in the Midwest or 90s Night at a college bar in Idaho. If anything, this probably seemed like an especially sweet gig - a big concert on the National Mall timed with America’s 250th birthday - until they found about the Trump connection.
That artice states that Rob Base was originally scheduled, but died. So add Rob Base to the list of 90s one-hit-wonders that were at one time affiliated with this event.
Can’t they just prop him up with sticks like a Muppet?
We were talking about this yesterday. It coulda been epic (no fury).
I’m guessing it’s because they want it to be associated with Get Out the Vote activities.
Ah yes that does make more sense. They should put one on something that weekend though. They could throw something together at the last minute at it would still wipe the floor with this line up. Hell it would make sense politically, if the radical left can be more organized than the Trump administration, what does that say for the state of the government ![]()
Wonderful, now they’ll blame Antifa.
I saw speculation that Kid Rock is too obviously politically divisive and would have made it hard to get any other bigger names that wouldn’t then drop out. Oops.
Kind of surprised that Kanye isn’t playing. Maybe they made the mistake of asking him on a day that he was taking his meds.
