What's the deal with Trump's Inaguration Committee's inability to secure "A" list talent?

I am more than a bit surprised by the difficulty them seem to be having in securing any A list talent. I did not vote for Trump, but the reality is that he’s now the POTUS and you’d think there be some non-country, non-religious main line performers wanting national face time… but not so much it appears.

Is it peer pressure or do creatives just really viscerally dislike Trump and it’s not just a job to them?

Do inauguration performers get paid? Do they get expenses?

Is anyone else surprised?

You’d think he’d get a few but … nothing.

Anyone performing better receive enough cash to last them, because it might be the last gig they ever get.

Yes, they undoubtedly *viscerally *hate Trump. Hate him, hate those who support him, hate those who enabled him, hate those who associate themselves with him in any way.

I thought they’ve made that quite clear in the past couple of months.

Up front. In cash.

Maybe Scott Baio can do a Cat Scratch Fever duet with Ted?

With good reason, don’t forget that part.

Well, just like you’d have expected the Republican presidential candidate to have gotten a few national newspaper endorsements, but he got exactly two: the KKK paper and the National Enquirer.

And the Las Vegas Review Journal. Or the hollow shell of what used to be the Las Vegas Review Journal, at any rate - it’s just a Sheldon Adelson mouthpiece now.

And the Santa Barbara News-Press.

I stand corrected.

On top of the visceral hatred of Trump throughout virtually all of the entertainment community, there is the fact that Trump regularly stiffs the people who do work for him as a business strategy, and given the difficulty of suing a sitting President, it’s pretty certain that no one wants to do it based upon just getting paid.

But also, Trump is a national embarrassment, and nobody (except almost the entire Republican party because they can’t figure out what to do now that Trump has hijacked their rhetoric and publically humiliated them by promising to make good on it in the absolutely stupid ways one would have to in order to pretend to be effective) wants to get on the Trump yacht, because they know it is going to get repossessed after Trump’s ass fails to make good on the checks his mouth has been writing.

Stranger

If they plan on living more than another four years, they get all the rest of their lives to be known as “one of the doofuses that supported the stupidest President the country ever had”

The entertainment industry leans very liberal and the very liberal hate Trump. Those that are apolitical may be afraid of ostracism.

I’m not sure if entertainment at an inaugural even get paid. If they do, it’ll come out of some sort of fund, not from The Donald himself.

All of us are supposed to be better off without stuff we don’t need, like the EPA, Department of Energy, etc. Can’t Trump’s inauguration get by without singers and a poetry reading? You’d think he’d be bragging about how he’s cut the waste and inefficiency from this business-as-usual, old-school example of Washington excess.

What, no Kanye? Not even Kid Rock? Wayne Newton?

I came here to say the same thing.

Obviously, many performers skew left. That said, I don’t think a big name would be harmed much by appearing with Trump. It is easier for me to believe Trump prefers not to share the stage. He seemed peeved and eager to interject when Pence or Christie were getting more attention than Trump.

I’m guessing it’s a tax free gig …

I’m guessing he can make America great again without musical accompaniment.
