The lineup for the Trump-backed America250 Concert is a little sus

It’s hilarious that he keeps wanting to do things that belie his insistence that he needs a super duper bunker.

I wanna know what he thinks the “yips” are.

It’s a well-known term in golf (which is, of course, one of Trump’s very favorite things); in that context, it refers to anxiety on the part of the golfer, which leads to involuntary flinching or hand/arm movements when swinging or putting (resulting in bad shots). I suspect he’s effectively saying, “those acts got nervous and pulled out.”

And, no, it’s not a great analogy, anyway.

I assumed it was an ethnic slur that hasn’t been spoken out loud in public since the '30s.

I was surprised to see that it did start in golf. I first heard about it in baseball.

Same here, although in the baseball context it’s always been about failure to perform a mundane task. Like that Cubs pitcher a while back who had a devastating case of The Yips that made it impossible for him to throw the ball to First Base.

Maybe that was the plan all along.

I remember when Simone Biles withdrew from a major competition (can’t remember if it was the Olympics, or the Worlds) because she had “the twisties”, meaning she didn’t trust her body to do some of the acrobatics she wanted it to. Other gymnasts, and dancers too, said they understood.

Republicans, especially Fox News commentators, gave her hell for it too, calling her unpatriotic and a weakling.

It was also a plot point in a Curb Your Enthusiasm where Larry’s surgeon suffers an attack of “the yips” on the golf course, leading Larry to worry he’ll do the same in the operating room.

I know what the yips are. I wanna know what Trump thinks they are because it makes no sense in the context of his post.

I think it does, as I noted earlier. I think he used the term to mean “they got nervous/scared about performing.” Because rationalizing it that way (i.e., putting the blame on the artists for chickening out) makes his ego feel better than “they quit because they don’t want to be associated with me.”

He’s now moved.on to the “I didn’t want those losers to come to my party anyway, let’s cancel the whole thing”.

Even for Trump, that rant is pretty unhinged.

But it’s the first good idea he’s had in… years? Ever?

Losing the Kennedy Center really seems to have caused him a maasive psychological injury. He may well be on the verge of narcissistic collapse at this point.

Oh, no. Whatever will we do?

Hide the big red button, in case his response to ego collapse is to take the rest of the world with him.

Interesting… and also a bit scary. From an article in PsychCentral:

The signs of narcissistic collapse may vary from person to person. In general, it may involve intense emotional reactions and a tendency toward vindictive behaviors, but it could also lead to depression and withdrawal…
Dr. Alexander Lapa, a psychiatrist at Ocean Recovery Centre in Blackpool, United Kingdom, explains that narcissistic collapse happens when a person with NPD can’t maintain their superior or confident image.

So…Vindictive behaviors. Sounds pretty much exactly what we’re seeing now with the DOJ and the recent Trump postings.

Happy birthday, America. Hope you like crap.
