I futzed, added chips and charcoal. The dial was on “IDEAL” but now is between “IDEAL” and “WARM”.
Dindin is et. Andy Griffith marathon on tvland. Episode with the loaded goat. Funny!
What does it mean, “Loaded goat”?
I hope this isn’t like the rats…
**Spidey **- the landing at the foot of the stairs is much wider than the little ledge above it, so your diabolical plan would result in a wet couple of steps and a potentially confused “victim” in the basement trying to figure out WTH went on.
Pizza was yum. I’ve got the sprinkler going in the front yard. I mowed this morning, but I don’t want it to dry out in this heat. Thankfully, next week, we may actually see water falling from the sky…
Holy crap is it freaking hot here today. 104 this afternoon. Urgh.
Semi busy day today I got up and worked out then I weeded to front flower bed while mr ems mowed the grass. Skyped the 'rents then we have been for lunch and then to the outlet mall for new tennies for mr ems then he took a nap and I folded laundry as sleep would not come for me.
I have a flank steak marinading in Dr Pepper, lime juice and a bunch of garlic for supper tonight. Sides will be corn and steamed cauliflower. Although now I am craving pizza!
Swampy is E-vile.

FlyTrap whenever you open the smoker heat escapes hence the drop in temp. It should (hopefully did) go up soon. Right now you might be thinkin’ is this worth it, but when you chomp down on smokey rib goodness you will know it is worth it.
The episode of Andy Griffith I spoke of was the one when a goat ate a bunch of dynamite and Barney and Andy led it out of town with Barney playin’ on his harmonica because the goat lurves the music. One of the classics!
Also, I am not the only one who et pizza, so if I am E-vile (which I don’t deny btw) then so is MOOOOOOM.
it’s not dead, it’s just pining for the fjords!
Irked. No day off next week, I’m running two stores next week. :smack:
On the other hand, my “just friend”
came home to a clean house, and a fridge full of beer. She is pleased.
Dinner is Italian sausage, olive and tomato risotto, and basil and garlic sauteed squash(from “just friend”:)'s garden). who needs pizza with a menu like that?
mmmm, it’s only 101 here in Raleigh. ![]()
MMMooooooommm!, stairway looks good. There appears to be a critical lack of TP and beer on the shelving, though.
wiki, ain’t grandkids great? I’m surprised you didn’t have a horde of Pomeranians on the bed, gobbling up the cat food.
Hey, I’m not E-vile! I’m nice, dammit. It says so right under my name!
**doggio **- there’s no TP because the 12-packs are too wide to fit on the shelves and individual rolls would become cat toys. So the spares are in the hall closet. As for beer - you may store and/or drink my share.
Of course you are, even if you have salt water instead of fresh.
I’m going to have a brackish tank, myself.
I’m so sick of being hot. And I’m really sick of the air conditioner going on at 9:30 AM and running continuously until 11 PM. It’s going to be an expensive summer.
**gotti **- I know what you mean - the drone of the compressor barely covers the hum of the electric meter as it spins out of control… I’m on the budget plan, but I just know it’ll be adjusted way up after this summer…
$325 here for June. I received the good news  today.
Got the turkey and ribs done, and they are heavenly. Then is was time to smoke the brats and kielbasa, and filled the smoker again. All the sausage in my smoker reminded me of a Swampbear pool party.

mmmmmm, I had pizza for dinner, but I’m now craving flank steak marinaded in Dr Pepper, lime juice and a bunch of garlic; sounds mmmmmm! Oh well, I guess I can dream about it - gots to go to bed now; we’re leaving @ 5am.
My smoked ribs fellated with great alacrity.
The beef was crusted, the pork pink after six hours.
Both were falling apart. That’s great for a roast, but I like the meat to stay on the bone until I gnaw it off.
What did I do wrong?
you didn’t invite me to dinner!
If you can get here before Mrs. Plant v.3.0 gets home tomorrow…
P.S.
Bring the cats.
I have been semi-bad recently - I’ve been having iced coffee just about every evening. Now I know I shouldn’t be drinking coffee at night like this, but it’s the leftovers from my morning coffee, so it would only get thrown out anyway. I’ve also recently taken to adding a bit of cocoa to the ground coffee before I brew it, thus giving it a bit of a mocha flavor. So what I do is pour the leftovers (which are good, because I turn off my coffee maker immediately after it brews so it hasn’t sat there baking all day!) into a ceramic cup that has a lid, add my milk and splenda, stir it up, and put it in the freezer for a few hours.
Now tonight’s version had been in there since last night, so had to spend a few hours (LOL more than a few, actually) in the fridge, thawing, until it was edible, and boy was it ever highly edible, let me tell you! It was like eating a mocha ice milk! It was a dessert treat with few calories, I think (no sugar was used in the making, only splenda!). If I try to re-create it tomorrow, though, it probably won’t turn out the same. But that’s what I’d love to have every night.
And it’s especially good for when it’s too hot and humid to have anything else - no matter what they say about caffeine not being good to have in the heat!
In other news, I baked some 'nanner bread this morning, and it was delicious. I’m finally, I think, getting the hang of baking in the higher altitude, so yay for that.
And the monsoon season has arrived in New Mexico, finally! Today was so nice, temperature wise at least and we actually got some rain. Temps were in the 80s, in fact, the swamp cooler is currently in the off position. Now that’s nice!
Hope everyone is enjoying themselves. You barbecue folks are making me hungry for some barbecue now–I don’t have a smoker, but I’ve been putting it in the oven, low and slow, and boy does it come out tasty. YUM! Good luck with all the cooking!
