The Lost & Found MMP

I have never had Turkish coffee. I don’t foo-foo my coffee up. I drink it black; no sugar, no cream or milk.

If I tried making Turkish coffee, hubby would have a fit. He always gripes it’s too strong, but I always tell I don’t know how he can even tell since he adds creamer and sugar.

Pizza has been ingested. All is good. Taters it’s never too early or too late for pizza.

Then you really should… It’s strong, dark and kicks you into gear like nothing else.
And if you do it “wrong”, the way I do, it’s just like making instant (i.e., Pour water over coffee. Drink.) – only it isn’t!

Who will try this at their next grill-out and give me a review? (I don’t grill and don’t really have any local friends who do - oh I know plenty of local folk who do, but none well enough to wangle an invite)

I can’t see it,** rosie**. It says link expired.

Swampy & Company, glad you are here.

Should the chips in the smoker be wet or dry? Directly on the charcoal or wrapped in foil?

A link to my post elsewhere on the board.

Their Parliament is designed to mess with each other in order to do things right, rather than throw rocks and call each other names.
But I’m reading Caterine Clay’s *King, Kaiser, Tsar * and I am always annoyed at the train wreck of WWI and the Russian revolution, WWII and the Cold War. If Britain had the resources of North America, I believe WWI would have been a lot shorter as well as WWII if it had happened at all.

Besides, Kings and Nobles are so much more cool than Aide molesting Senators and Baby Kissing Representatives.

Wet, directly on the coals.

ETA: They should soak for about 20 minutes before putting them on. Also, don’t start the charcoal directly in the smoker, or all you will taste is lighter fluid. Make sure all charcoal is gray before putting the smoker together.

We will keep our fingers crossed for the ME, but I am seeing little rays of hope could just as well be a speeding train, le sigh

JIM

I start the coals in a chimney with paper.
Wet they shall be, and on grey coals.
These are the half a rack of beef ribs I didn’t cook last night.
I presume it wall take several hours and a change of coals.
Is it a bitch taking the smoker apart to add coals?

Odd - it works for me - I’ll find a better one
eta better link

eata - don’t bother watching the video

That was Interesting. Smoking has commenced after a Slight Delay.

I read yesterday on an aquarium forum about a broken center brace on large tanks.
This is a brace in the middle of the upper plastic frame on large tanks. It seems that it helps keep the glass from bowing under the pressure of a couple of bazillion PSI.
Mrs. Plant v.3.0 and I have a used tank we obtained with a broken center brace. I measured it after work, and the center top is indeed 1/4" bowed out.

I drained about twenty gallons out into a rope tub (T.M)., clamped the broken plastic back together and as recommended on the thread, smeared silicone seal all over it.

I thought that seemed to be a dinky repair for a couple of bazillion PSI.

So this morning, since Mrs. Plant is Away and I am unsupervised, I bought a threaded rod, some big ol’ fender washers and 1/4" nuts.
I bolted it all together, cut the extra off with a bolt cutter. I’m a little guy, it took a lot of heft to cut the rod, and it zinged off into the nether regions of the garage.

I eventually found it and mounted it atop the tank.
“Perhaps,” thought I, “I should drain some more water out to be sure there is no bowing.”

:dubious:

The second rope tub (T.M.) had a hole in it.
A very large hole.

There were a few moments of Unmitigated Panic when I thought I had cracked the tank.

I very quickly got the water back into the tank. The fish were very, very pissed at this point, and the floor was Very Wet.

Did you know that a little bitty wet vac starts throwing water out the back after it gets just a little bit of water in it?

So after much vacuuming, however you spell it, lots of wet towels washed, I recalled that I was supposed to be smoking ribs.

:smack:

At any rate, the house is dry and still standing for Mrs. Plant’s return. I’ve had a glass of wine and an E cigarette.
Time to think about a hamburger or spaghetti for me and some mosquito larvae for the fish.

In from the pool and all showered. Others are still out there but I had enough. So here I be chillaxin’ in the A/C. It’s actually not bad out. Accordin’ to the weather PTB 'tis 92 Amurrkin.

FlyTrap it’s been a while since I’ve used a charcoal smoker but you shouldn’t have to change the coals. The trick is not to futz with it too much. Do add some wet wood chips every couple of hours. The only non-electric smoker I use is the biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig ass smoker we have over to the church house. Even that one is fueled with propane and the wood is placed in a smoke box that feeds smoke into the smoker. It takes a good twelve hours to smoke meat to done in that thing. Usually I (or we if there’s a group of us) smoke the meat for about five-six hours and finish it in the biiiiiiiiiiiiig ass convection oven we have at the church house which takes a couple hours usually.

Hot dawgs, slaw and corn sallit for dindin tonight. YUM!

I am commencing Not to Futz.

Howdy all!!

We ran our errands this morning/ afternoon and I now present my new stairwell! Last five pics in the album…

**Flytrap **- aquarium-type fish store. We needed more salt plus some calcium and something else for our corals.

Speaking of pizza, I’m about to run to PapaJohn’s for supper. We ate a late breakfast and no lunch, so we’s stahvink!! Laterz!!!

Smokefest[sup]tm[/sup] is under way. Had a problem in that the slab of ribs is so big that I didn’t have room for the turkey. Thirding the slab bought me enough room for the bird.

It’s so hot out that my smoker was reading 125 Amurrkin before I ever put charcoal in. There won’t be a problem maintaining heat in my smoker today.

It’s been nearly two hours, which is an appropriate amount of time. I need to go futz.

Four teenagers lined up on the couch playing Minecraft…amazing! Cats sleeping, (happier now they wriggled their collars off, little buggers) house partly-packed, slap-sammiches in bellies; all in all pretty quiet. And I’m appreciating it

I agree in that my stomach doesn’t have a clock or know how to tell time; however, I thought there was a rule (law?) that earlier than a certain time of the morning, any pizza ingested was required to be leftover, preferably consumed cold.

Taters, I don’t drink the stuff at all; ever. Yeeeech!
Moooom that ledge over the bottom step looks just wide enough for a cup, with a handle, tied to the door. When someone opens the door; instant shower!
Yes, as a matter of fact, I am a diabolical SOB!

I was awakened by the squeals of the grandchildren in my room, opened my eyes to see one of the cats launching itself toward my head (actually the goal was the headboard, but one of the young ‘un’s managed to slow down the cat’s momentum) and rolled over onto . . . crunchy? Wth? Cat food. The kids put cat food in my bed while I was sleeping! Why? No real reason, they thought it was funny though.

Had my coffee on the deck, planted a few things, got the watering begun and came in to take a shower. The plan is to go out front and tackle the flower beds. The kids bought me a fuchsia basket and a new decorative solar light for the garden. It’s only my second summer here but the yard is beginning to take shape.

Steaks on the grill tonight, it’s a lovely 73° with a light breeze, and the livin is easy!
