So, I just watched The Cable Guy. Again.
My friends hate this movie. I’ve seen this movie trashed on the SDMB more than once. It’s been panned by the critics. But for some reason, this film strikes me as hilariously funny. <hangs head>
The 70’s Dune movie (the one with Patrick Stewart). Most people I’ve talked to dislike this one very much, but I enjoyed it quite a bit the first time I saw it and still enjoy it to this day. (And yes, I know it doesn’t hardly follow the book at all, but I still think it’s great).
Hey, I liked that movie! Must come from being an Anthro major in college.
My guilty pleasure is an Animal House/Porky’s ripoff called Up The Creek. Really trite, about a collegiate rafting contest, but the writing is quite witty sometimes. Unbelievably bad other times, however, and the plot is downright stoopid. I love it!
If you mean the David Lynch Dune, which came out in '84, then I agree. I love this movie, even if it does feel like a two hour trailer for a better movie. Or maybe because it feels like a two hour trailer for a better movie. What can I say: I love movie trailers. There was supposed to be a '70s Dune, but it was killed in post production and, so far as I know, the footage was never released in any form. If you’ve seen that one, please e-mail me with details of where, when, and how.
My guiltiest of guilty pleasures is the abominable Charlie Sheen vehicle The Chase, where Sheen is a man wrongly convicted of robbing a bank, who steals a car and a hot blonde and flees with both of them to Mexico. You can pretty much fill in the blanks about what happens next: aren’t any surprises comin’. But I love it. Not least because of all the cameos. Henry Rollins makes a surprisingly convincing asshole cop.
I realized the other day how much I like the movie Singles. I don’t know how anyone else feels about it, but I caught it on tv this week and thought “oh yeah, this was a good one.”
We actually own this one. My husband likes it, and pops it in whenever he just wants something mindless to watch. It’s actually not that bad. Okay, it’s not that good, but it’s not that bad, either.
I thought Booty Call was hilarious. It helped that I saw it after midnight, with an audience of almost entirely African-Americans, most of whom were drinking 40’s with no shame. Laughter is contagious as they say.
I also cried my tear ducts dry when I saw Jackass. I laugh out loud every time I see an episode of Wild Boyz too. I guess I just love low-brow humor.
I do like “Attack of the 60 Foot Centerfold” because it’s just good, naughty fun. It’s got Forry Ackerman, Tommy Kirk, Russ Tamblyn, some softcore porn actresses who also do other things on the side (like Scream Queen Michelle Bauer who also did a lot of bondage modelling) … and a guy, who is part of a crowd fleeing in terror from the titular centerfold who just HAS to point back and say, “Look at the size of those tits!”
The Legend of Billie Jean with Helen Slater. Horrible movie that I keep watching (I suppose) for Ms. Slater’s performance, which is quite good in spite of the material.
