The Love That Has No Name... Movies You Watch In Shame

Berry Gordy’s The Last Dragon

and another vote for Dr. Detroit

No one in our house will watch either with me. sigh.

IIRC, the 1970’s DUNE movie had commisioned HR Giger to design just about everything for the movie from the harvesters to costumes. There are some of his drawings from it out there.

I just found a copy of Tapeheads on DVD in the Best Buy bargain bin. $5.99!!! And it comes with a free single of The Swanky Modes song in the package!!!

It’s so manic it’s just great to watch. I guess that’s what happens when everyone involved is stoned to the bejesus-belt on cocaine.

Now to destroy all my credibility…

Super Troopers and Bongwater. Two absolutely hilarious movies that nobody else thought were as funny as I did.

Executive Decision Pretty average thriller with Kurt Russel and Steven Seagal, but it had some surprises and I found myself enjoying it. If you’ve seen it you probably know why I liked it so much.

Six Days Seven Nights. Terrible movie. Totally unconvincing romance between Harrison Ford and Anne Heche. Pouty irritating Ross shows up and acts like pouty irritating Ross. Jango Fett and Danny Trejo show up as pirates. Yes, pirates. Their demise looks like something straight out of a Bugs Bunny cartoon. USA inexplicably shows it several times a week. But so help me, I get sucked into the damn thing every time it’s on.

Bram Stoker’s Dracula, the 1992 Coppola version. It’s pretty excessive and could have been way better. It has some terrible plot points (the whole Mina-reincarnation thing I never liked), and Keanu Reeves as Jonathan Harker. But I love the look and feel of the movie. I also like Anthony Hopkins’s oddball performance as Prof. Van Helsing. Oh, and Gary Oldman as Dracula was cool too.
