The MAD Outdoors Club

Oh yeah, I’ve got pix ready to post, but there’s about 2.5 meg worth, which is more Web space than I’ve got. I know someone offered to post the pix for me, but I can’t remember who. Volunteers?

Turns out we’ve got 5 meg of free webspace, not the 2 meg I thought we had. So here are the pix. (And thanks anyway, TTO, for volunteering. :))

Captions, my man, captions! Obviously, I know which one is Anita, but who the hell are those other people? I miss my MADs!

And I miss the Billy Goat Trail too. :frowning:

RT, that’s too bad about Breezy Point, but not a surprise. For some reason I already had a feeling that it might be yucky. It came to mind because I heard that it had a campground.
Bizarre coding error: How on earth did I make that smilie when I was trying to say that I was pouting? I’ll have to remember not to hit submit so fast when Kyle is chasing me out of his room.

Oh, and I miss you sis!

Hey, with my life the way it is these days, you’re lucky to have pictures. If I’d held off until I had captions, I’d be posting this link about 2 weeks from next Thursday, with luck.

Anyhow, in this picture, that’s TeletTronOne on the far left, with Anita Vacation between him and the sign. (I know you know Anita, Geobabe, but that’s for the benefit of anyone else who might stumble in here.)

To the right of the sign, panache is in the foreground, doubled over with laughter. Behind her, left to right, are Theios, Theios’ SO, and Emilio Lizardo.

From that, you can probly figure out who’s in all the rest of the pix, since that’s everyone except me.

And we MADs miss you too, so c’mon up here sometime soon!

It’s the “:P” in “::Pout::”. It gives you that smilie unless you “Disable Smilies in This Post” (The box right above “Show Signature”.)

Thanks, Rue. I will eventually get this stuff down.

Looks like we’ve all be identified correctly- I too am suffering from a bizarre sunburn. I have a huge white stripe where the strap of my bag was, on the left side of my neck. I had a great time anyway though, and I’ve never eaten a tastier thimbleful of salad! In fact, our adventure in the woods inspired me to do some urban hiking on Sunday. Definitely count me in for the next adventure! It was great to meet everybody.

I know there’s not a lot of bicycling types in this group, but assuming decent weather, I’m going bicycling this weekend whether anyone goes with me or not, so I thought I’d see if anyone wants to join me.

Day: Saturday 3/29 or Sunday 3/30, either one.
Time: mid to late morning.
Distance: 14-15 miles.
Pace: leisurely (haven’t been on my bike since September), except for one great downhill, where I’m gonna go fast.
Where: a loop through northern Calvert and southern Anne Arundel counties, including a stretch along the Chesapeake Bay through the towns of Chesapeake Beach and North Beach.
Meeting place: my house. I’ll email directions to anyone who wants to come along on this ride.
Refreshments: lunch and beer afterward at a local crab shack. Guaranteed to be cheaper than the Old Angler’s Inn!

This is my favorite local loop when all I want is a short ride. Part of it’s on main roads with wide shoulders that make biking safe, and most of it’s on local roads where the traffic’s pretty light. And the view of the Chesapeake Bay on the big downhill toward the bay is pretty good at this time of year.

So, who’s interested?

C’mon - it’ll be a fine weekend for bike-riding.

You’ll have to count me out. I work all weekend. I hope you have a great time out riding in the sun and having fun… While some of us have to sit in a cold, windowless datacenter, slaving over a filthy keyboard.

Well, I, for one, don’t own a bike. And when you take into account that the weather is supposed to be less than great, and that I’ll be appreciating alcohol and appetizers the night before, a morning bike ride starts not to sound so hot.

But I hope you have a good time!

Looks like I’ll be riding solo this weekend. It should still be pleasant Saturday morning before the storm moves in. I’ll think of you guys as I’m cruising the byways.

Now, anyone got any ideas for next weekend (April 5-6)? Let’s get some chatter going!

I/we might be in for a Saturday morning bike ride, RT. Let me ask Bluesman and see if he’s got anything going.

That would be great if y’all could, Lucretia, I’d love the company.

Needless to say, Blueskids are also welcome.
