The Marmite Horror

Hmmmm… perhaps you need some Aussiemite to complete your collection.

Evidently, Marmite also goes well with braaaaaiiiiiinnnnsssssss!

Funny!!

When I read that, I immediately thought of HP Lovecraft.

I was unaware of that story, however. (I may have read it as a teenager, but certainly don’t recall doing so. ) The style is unmistakable.

I bet I haven’t read anything by him or August Derlith in 35 or 40 years!

Edit:

I recall listing to Roddy McDowell reading this in about 1962.

Been there, spread that.

I have never seen Marmite refridgerated, nor do I refridgerate mine. In fact, my (large) pot of Marmite is sitting beside me at the computer, awaiting buttered brioche later. How long it lasts depends on how much you eat. This large container will probably last me, from beginning to end, about 3 months. But I know people it would last a couple of years.

Also, to anyone interested, Marmite is meant to be spread in SMALL quantities. I once convinced an American friend to try mine and then didn’t supervise the spreading. She ended up slathering it on like thick jam and, well, let’s say there was trauma. 1/2 teaspoon (2.5ml) is more than enough for one slice of bread/toast, imo.
