Is anyone else watching The Missing on Starz? It’s a crime drama about a couple whose son is abducted while they are vacationing in France. Very strong performances, IMHO, especially from the father (Tony) and the retired French policeman who is helping him. I wasn’t expecting much from it at first, but I’m loving the back and forth between past and present and the relationships of the characters.
Going out on the BBC atm, up to E5.
I’m looking at it. Struggling a little with it but staying with it for now. James Nesbitt uses the same gym, I’m probably so shallow it’s part of why I’m stil watching.
E7 now in the Uk. Well, it took a couple of hours but it’s definitely sucked me in.
Very smartly structured. I just hope it retains this level of artistic integrity to the end.
Quality work.
Good- I feel like I’m alone out here thinking it’s pretty great ;). I’m also through Episode 7 with one to go I think. I love Baptiste and Tony is an interesting grieving father with an anger management issue.
Spoiler:
I thought the cleaner was chilling- the way he just casually explained what he did at the house that day until he shows the tiniest glimpse of humanity by leaving the drawing up because he didn’t think it was right that the boy should disappear completely.
Just finished episode 7 and I have no idea how this ends. It’s pretty good, though. I have a feeling it won’t have a Hollywood happy ending. The acting is top notch, and the French cop is cute as hell.
Just finished it. Something of a slow burner but it grew and in the end, for me, the intelligence of it won out. Actually got stronger as we moved through act 2 into 3.
Nice end of year win for the BBC as not everyone was convinced by Gillian Anderson in S2 of The Fall, which ran concurrently.
Certainly not Broadchurch but, in UK drama, probably in the top 5 of the year.
Def worth a punt.
