(Old) The MMP is the place to be!

 hi. I plan to come and go a bit, but I’ll dip my toe in with some random things that have happened in the past couple days:

My boss accidentally drunk-posted a profanity-filled celebration on the shelter’s Facebook account instead of her own after a football game. Luckily, everyone who saw it and commented thought it was amusing.

My neighbor’s cat needed veterinary care and they brought him to me to take care of and when I went to return him, the neighbor lady came out to greet us and collect him COMPLETELY NEKKID. I gave her the care instructions while keeping my eyes fixed directly on the cat.

My co-worker, who has zero common sense, but does whatever she likes because the boss got her the job and so she can do no wrong, vanished from the office and then reappeared in the parking lot with a sick cat she had taken out of quarantine and was walking outside on a leash while smoking a cigarette. The boss walked right by and just shrugged it off. She did the same thing today and the cat boss, who seems to be the only person in that place who does things that make sense these days, put the kibosh on it.

I sent out some resumes last night and got a job interview scheduled on Monday! We talked for a decently long time on the phone and it sounded promising. I’ve worked at the shelter a long time, but… it’s more and more obvious that it’s time to move on. Maybe I’ll bake a batch of cookies for the staff there to make myself memorable. Like, yeah… there are plenty of passionate, competent, and hardworking potential employees out there, but this one comes with the possibility of salted caramel thumbprint cookies or mini raspberry lemon tarts on any given day!

Howdy Y’all! Been home from the doin’s over to the church house, but needed some unwind time. We had chikin parm, pasta in a creamy parm sauce (one can never have too much parm), sallit, rolls, and a nummy desert that had chawklit cake, ‘niller puddin’ and whipped cream. Group was good and cause I ran it, I cut it a little short as I was ready to come back to da cave. I shall head to the bed shortly as I am tahrd.

Welcome back dorothy ! (I’m blanking on your Mumper name, but remember you!)

I’ve never had a decent taco from a drug cartel. OK, I’ve never had anything from a drug cartel. I probably wouldn’t recognize a drug cartel if they all wore signs saying, “Ask me about my DRUG CARTEL.” Also, I’m ditsy enough without adding drugs to the mix. Still, get Taco Hell to team up with Roche or whatever company makes that stuff now, and you’d probably make a bundle. Also some addicts. Never mind, I can see this is another genius marketing idea that bites the dust. On to glow in the dark cars…

Whoa. Kudos to you for even remembering the care instructions at that point.

I’ve always liked your username.

I approve this message.

You’ve got it, Mr. Popular!

:scream:

Promising product for sure. I would love a wee nip of Klonopin infused Colombian coffee!

That could be lucrative.

First I might need a federal start up grant. :sunglasses:

Evening all. Still close to 50F now (nearly 8pm local) so hopefully my furnace will appreciate the lesser strain. Went to the gym and did some walking (no more than my usual pace and only for 20-minute sessions) then came home to eat, because the scale at the gym says I weigh 195lbs! I wanted to lose weight, but that’s a bit drastic (nearly 9lbs less than I weighted in at a week or so ago) so more eating is on the plan. Will have the dishwasher in operation tomorrow, soon as I finish doing dish tetris. Have also consumed more liquid refreshment and am ahead of my kidneys (we’ll see what tonight and tomorrow are like).

Only 37 messages behind, so need to get down to it…

Not against the Marx brothers or any other comedian of days long ago. And big Addams family fan, can still do the entire theme song if need be (minus finger-snapping)

FCM, good on ya for changing the reservation, makes sense to me.

JtC & BBBoo, I won’t turn down Cheddar or Swiss and provolone goes on my subs at Jersey MIkes. Just never been a big fan of all the many forms cheese takes.

Cookie, glad to hear you made the guitar feel a little less lonely.

Picked a heck of a time to invest money, didn’t I?

Cat Glove, rather glad I’m retired now, albeit I wouldn’t be surprised if they come after my Civil Service Retirement somewhere down the line.

Knew there was a reason I liked that man…

Oopsie, glad to heat Dad is ok, hope the tests bring continued good news. Have a good night’s sleep tonight.

Sticky Buns,. appropriate appendages crossed that you get an insurance approval. And ouch! on the tongue pain.

nellie, hopefully more silent nights are in your future.

{{Coppertone}}, hope the nits get gone quickly.

SurrenderDorothy, thanks for the life updates, you do have some…interesting…floks you associate with. And best wishes on the interview.

Was the cat smoking too?

And that’s all the energy I have tonight. Watch the usual You Tubes (have 7 lined up) and then off to slumberland. Take care all.

I would have been ever so tempted to fling that already pissed off murder kitten at that nekkidness claws first. But then I’ve gotten cranky in my night nurse persona and it doesn’t seem to be wearing off.

Bet that would be the last time she accepted her cat back from the vet nekkid. I do hope you get to relay this story to the vet~imagine how relieved they’ll be that they didn’t have to deliver the kitty.

At o’ dark o’ clock, as our Johnny_LA would say, I get to Uber myself to the hospital and submit myself to the second cataract surgery, hungry and thirsty, nothing to eat or drink after midnight (3 hours from now)-I’d best get to eating and drinking! Definitely some ice cream and that last piece of the very best toffee ever from Maralyn’s Candy in Michigan. I deserve toffee and ice cream after my 3 hour root canal ordeal this morning. I’m still taking Tylenol and ibuprofen for that. When the dentist whips off that little bib and says “you should start taking Tylenol or Motrin for that for at least a day. Better yet, take both of them.” He didn’t have to tell me twice. Unfortunately ibuprofen does not help with the pain of paying for that torture, errr, root canal. And it was a redo of a root canal I had had done less than 7 years ago. I didn’t know they ever needed redoing but he said this one had leaked and was infected again. Not the most personable of fellows but then consider how he spends his days.

Hugs, skritches, nose boops to all and sundry, I’ll check in tomorrow after the Versed and ketamine wears off and I’m at my daughter’s safely ensconced in my robe and jammies. Harriet is planning another sleepover in the queen sized Murphy bed in the guest room. Said guest room comes with a 70” tv and Harriet to run the remote so I’m sure I have a weekend of Disney and popcorn and snuggles. They are even going to have a foster service dog in training for the weekend so I’ll be well looked after.

Up from naptime, having a martini and teriyaki chicken.

Invest in whiskey. No matter how bad it gets, someone gonna pay for a drink.

{{{{sticky}}}}

Cppertone, darn, that sucks.

Dots! : tacklehug : Welcome back!

Was she hot?

Well that almost makes up for the surgeries.

Interesting definition of spaghetti

Ditto

Welcome back; I also don’t remember your Mumper name! Best of luck on the potential new job!
Feel free to share your recipes for the cookies, they sound yum.

Swampy sounds like a very nice evening with good eats and good fellowship.

BBBoo  for another successful cataract surgery. Sounds like Nurse Harriet will take the best care of you.

I laughed so hard I almost p***d my pants. Wouldn’t expect anything less from you.

Crockpot dinner was good. Then I demolished the green m&m’s from a bag of Christmas m&m’s. Saving the red ones for Valentine cookies.

Upset about the helicopter crash into the American Airlines flight in DC over the Potomac. Hoping that passengers and crews can be rescued.

Good medical and health wishes to BBBoo and all around.

It just came to me! It’s DOT! Surrender Dorothy’s Mumper nickname is Dot!

I REALLY don’t understand. I thought a root canal meant drilling out the nerve down (or up) through the root. What’s leaking? Ugh. I’m sorry. I really hate that you’re going into a procedure while still ouching from the prior procedure. I guess on the plus side, while you’re on the surgery meds, your mouth shouldn’t bother you.

Hooray for Hannah and her thoughtful parents!

Now THAT is good planning!

Is this the place?

Hello back atcha. You’ve been missed, young lady.

Yes, it is. The very best toffee I have ever eaten in all my years. Better than if my grandmother had stirred the butter and sugar in a copper kettle herself. Nirvana!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 2c/36f with a predicted high of 6c/43f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “An optimist would say it’s partly fucking sunny outside. That optimist is a fucking ass clown”. But it is sunny out there, cold but lovely and bright.

All of ours behave differently to the same sounds. If I sneeze, Shadow glares at me. Blossom runs away, and Cherry just looks baffled.

That’s good news, shame he had to spend such a long time waiting around though. I hope the doc can shed some light on things for him. Good luck with Bailey’s vet appointment!

{{{{{Sticky Buns}}}}}

Dot I would need brain bleach after that!

I hope the procedure was successful and relatively painless. You definitely deserve ice cream and painkillers after all of that. You need ice cream for more than just a day though!

I’m feeling much more human today, I had a nice soaky bath last night and changed the bedding so I had fresh sweet-smelling sheets. Put the old bedding through the wash so that’s another job done. I got a relatively early night too, so my eyes are less annoyed with me today.

It’s been an expensive morning though - we got paid yesterday so today I’ve paid my debts and booked my car in for a service, MoT, Duxback treatment and also a carbon flush thingie. I can book all of it at the garage but you have to pay up front so that’s a chunk out of my bank account today. Next month it will be car insurance renewal so I’m expecting a bit of shopping around for that.

Off to deal with the day’s skip fires now!

I know what you mean, the solid and liquid cheeses are ok, but the gas cheese? No way!

Nice of him to tell you that. My (now former) dentist didn’t say a word about what to do after mine.

Best of luck with your surgery!

Hooray!

I’m sitting here next to a very persnickety little pup. She likes to have a little bit of my string cheese in the morning, except when she doesn’t. Today is a doesn’t day. After I get completely done with breakfast, I’m going to head upstairs as MusicMan has asked me to help with getting some things organized up there. Then after that, I plan to work on making some bowl cozies to replace the dreadfully old ones that we have.

Oh, and, Coppertone, I hope your day is better today than yesterday.

I actually had an unbroken night of sleep! Crashed around 11, woke a bit after 6. Amazing!!

Jessica stopped by yesterday and picked up all the blankets - glad they’re on the way to patients and out of my living room. And it was nice to see her again.

Plans for today include prepping the guest room for the grands. Somewhere among my stuff, I have a waterproof mattress cover for that bed. Because with kids, you just never know. Better safe than soggy, I say. And when Roxy gets here tomorrow, I’ll have her help me clean the basement fireplace and start a new fire. I’ll even let her weild a match - we have those foot-long fireplace matches.

SIL has decided not to go with us in April. It’s a combination of not being able to afford the time off work and worrying about having an anxiety attack or a migraine and ruining everyone’s time. So it’ll be 5 of us. And it’ll save us a few $$$ since we’re covering the hotel and meals - that guy can pack away some groceries! Plus that’s a little less luggage and a little more room for kid stuff in the Santa Fe. And he’ll come by to check on Ziva and bring our mail in.

We also decided to shorten our stay by a day - we’ll come back on Firday instead of Saturday. The plans for now are a day in Cades Cove to spread the ashes and just see the park, and another day to go to one of the “gem mining” places for the kids. I’ll look for things to do for the rest of the time there. Plus the hotel has a nice indoor pool setup for the kids.

So that’s all taken care of, I think. Ziva is yelling at me - for skritches, I think. Who knows - she’s weird. And it’s getting lighter outside, so the day begins. Happy Thursday!

Good morning, everyone.

It’s 29F and partly cloudy outside. The late morning and afternoon will turn cloudy, and our expected high temperature is 45F. @nelliebly, we’re supposed to see a mixture of rain and snow on Sunday morning, turning to rain in the afternoon. The same thing goes for Monday morning. So, just enough crud to be annoying while driving to the office on Monday morning.

FCM, that sounds like a plan. It’ll probably just a tad less stressful cutting the trip short a day. I love my grandkids, but several days of small-child enthusiasm wears a body down.

I’m sending my best smooth operation vibes to BBBoo.

Welcome back, Dot. Yep, those are some weirdos.

Oopsie, I’m happy the tests came back negative for a stroke.

We received our letter from the acting USEC yesterday; state and field office management returned to the office full-time on the 10th. Staff return on the 18th—senior executive leadership (DC and NO) return next week. Further guidance is being sent to those who were/are remote. It’s hard to say how that’ll impact my office space. I have 24 people who would potentially have to return to the state office and only about 15 seats.

There are still many upset people about the Fork in the Road memo. It’s illegal, not a buyout, and I am not signing. I and the rest of the management team checked in with each other first thing yesterday, privately, and then did our best to listen to staff concerns. We don’t have answers, but we’re going to support them any way we can.

While the funding memo was rescinded, the EO was not.

A lot of my emails have been titled “My neck hurts.”

At any rate, all I can do is keep on keepin’ on. I’ve written my Congress critters.

Hah! Johnny, you beat me. I have one Follower, unverified, and I don’t even know who the dude is. I don’t post, and I only have an account because my agency uses it to publicize our outreach efforts. There are photos of me at several events on my agency page.

Right. It’s time for more coffee. I wonder what fresh hell awaits me today.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 42 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 71 and cloudy. Cat_Glove would be sittin’ on the back porch fannin’ herself and sippin’ lemonade. We shall be RDOS sloths as is our wont. OYKW wants to go to the hog trough GC so that will take care of today’s main need to feed.

Dot welcome back! You win the story of the week award.

Oopsie glad your dad didn’t have a stroke. Hope he finds out details about what happened to him soonest.

BBBoo I am sure the surgery will be a success. Plus you will be in capable hands with Nurse Harriet.

Coppertone ICK! Here’s to a much better today!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!
