Once upon a time between Mrs. Plants, a young lady helped me with some drawings for my senior design project. I wanted this to be so good that I was lettering with a template. She could letter like a typewriter. I believe women are better at drafting than are men. Perhaps they are jealous of you ability.
I’ve finally been given the New Guy to train at irk. No one seems to like him much, but he’s willing to do things. I guess I’ll see how he does under the pressure of Friday and Saturday when I get him again. The good side of this is that I don’t have to work with The Ferret this week. After last Saturday I may have to bring a roll of duct tape to wrap around her head so she’ll shut. thefuck. up. occasionally.
Now it’s time to work on the Neverending Teal Blanket again. I set myself a goal to get 15 rows put on it this week.
I have nothing against EEs, except when they refuse to accept that there’s more to mechanical design than “Rivet some metal together…” You can’t just say “Build it out of aluminum” - you need to specify the type, the temper, the finish, the method of joining, form, fit, function, consider where it’s to be installed, so environmental factors, does it require shielding or special grounding, what sorts of forces will it be subjected to, you know, piddly details like that.
I’m being asked to do drawing for electronics racks that will be build and installed on Navy ships. There’s a bit more to it than buying cabinets at Sears to install in your garage. Plus they’re asking for dimensioning that makes no sense, cannot be built, or would cost a ridiculous amount to build because of unnecessarily tight tolerances. Essentially, they’re looking for a quick, shitty job, and then there’ll be all kinds of problems down the line with installation, maintenance, and durability. I don’t work that way.
Anybody who clicks on this link will want to hunt me down. One of the most obnoxious earworms evah!
Dindin is ingested, mowage has occured, showerage has been accomplished and now drinkage of lemonade is in progress. Thus endeth another fun filled day in swampland.

They can’t just buy relay racks from Monoprice? Or are they doing something stupid like saying the rack rails need to be 19.0000" +/- one millihectare?
Taking a neat segue from Naval ships and corrupting a favorite line from Star Trek, Admiral, there be bones here! Not Bones, but bones. New bones, or more accurately, new bone growing right where it’s supposed to be in my spine. Happy dance! Spineydoc says all is doing splendidly so I’m back to work in less than a fortnight, bringing an end to the longest and most boring vacation I’ve ever had.
She is obviously related to my classmate who I had the good fortune to sit next to in class tonight. I’ve been counting down how many more times I have to see this woman after three and 1/2 years of dealing with her. With my luck I’ll somehow get a job in the same district that she does.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis a hyoooomid 72 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 91 and no rain in the forecast. Looks like a heat index of around a hunnert. Summer is makin’ it’s last stand in south Jawja it would appear.
It’s a miserable 74 degrees with a projected high of 92.
Today I’m having lunch with my friend, she is driving down this way so I have to figure out where we are going to go. Usually I drive out her way and she still makes me pick where to go.
She makes me, the person who hates to make decisions, decide where to eat.
