Happy Whinesday!
I have just sat here for five minutues trying to come up with something to post but I got nuthin’. But at least I am now five minutes closer to 5 o’clock so there is that…
I have jury duty today. :smack:
I actually enjoyed jury duty the one time I had to go, a couple years ago. The jury room was nice and there was wi-fi, and when I was brought in for selection I was dismissed almost immediately because it was a car accident case and a very close friend died in an accident several years ago. I remember thinking that Meggie woul be so psyched that her death got me out of being selected for a case.
If you happen to watch a lot of crime procedurals, make sure you let the lawyers know. They don’t seem to want those people on the jury.
Apparently I need to be more aware of cuddling/petting my kitteh Azazel in the mornings or else I will show up with what seems to amount to half a cat on each of my lower pants legs at work and walk around like that for two hours.
Last night after feeding the horses I saw a fire in my neighbor’s back pasture. A big fire - I thought he must be burning a brush pile. I called to ask what he was burning and he said, “I’m not burning anything.” I told him something was burning and to look out his back door because the fire was as high as the telephone poles. His equipment shed was on fire. It took 25 minutes for the tanker truck to get here from the volunteer FD 4 miles away. He lost everything - his tractor, lawn mower, tools, everything. But at least it didn’t get an opportunity to spread to his house or my pasture.

I’ve always wanted to do jury duty at least once. I’ve also always wanted to be in a small earthquake, just to see what it was like.

Did the fire department save the foundation?
Been through a 5.5 earthquake. Nothing to it, I thought it was a plane crash at first… (Where’s the kaboom? There was supposed to be an earth shattering kaboom…)
Bobbio - I don’t think there was a pad for the tool shed - it was one of those large wooden yard buildings. The equipment storage was a lean-to attached to the shed.
Did the earthquake just feel like vibration, or was it more like a slam or one big shift?

Damn you! Waterloo Sunset is one of my favorite Kinks song and I’ll admit that Def Leppard version is a catchy revision.
My wife packed a frozen entry in my lunch today and I have been singing ZZ Top’s TV Dinners all morning.
The first was a joke variant. The original is that the volunteer fire department arrives to save the basement. Been there and done that many times.
Ever been in a house close enough to a railroad that a passing train rattles the dishes? It was like that, only stronger, and lasted about 10-15 seconds.
Micky D’s can just DIAF. I had a craving for nuggets. I recieved nuggets. I had a craving for sweet and sour sauce. I received…1 tangy barbeque sauce. SO NOT THE SAME!
I was in this Earthquake

We were in the hills just outside the LA basin at my friend’s house. I was talking to her mother in the kitchen and just started to move across the floor. A very weird experience.
Happy Humping Day all

Finally got my security badge yesterday- so fear not, this MMP is now secure! ![]()
I have interview type things with two rival companies tomorrow, which should be interesting…
I’m not sure which I’d rather go for- one has told me they want someone for 3 fixed evenings a week (which would be good) but they only do nightclubs and their contract looks a little scary- it states you can’t work for any competitors in the same area for a year after leaving?! One company at a time seems to be the rule for everyone else, as it’s not as though they have loads of secrets… He did claim over the phone they don’t really care, but then why have it in the contract? suspicious face
The other company came recommended by the person running my course as decent (and by one of the guys on it, who already worked for them- I don’t think the other company was mentioned as either good or bad), and they do more interesting stuff, like festivals and other venues, so it’s not all nights; but I have no idea what hours they have available. I’ll have to see how it goes…
By the way, for the annoying earworms, has anyone linked to this one yet? I didn’t check them all.
Howdy Y’all! N.O.L. has been et. Last night I yanked some frozen bbq <snerk> butt <snerk> outta da freezer and I made some coleslaw to have for dindin tonight. I decided to have a bbq <snerk> butt <snerk> and slaw sammich for N.O.L. as well cause I have a gnawin’ and a cravin’. I am one of those who can handle eatin’ the same thing twice in a day.
Dang I missed that post Spaz. I was wonderin’ how we’d gotten all the way to Hump Day without badger, badger, mushroom.
Germy sorry about the neighbor’s equipment shed but glad nuttin’ else was harmed. I’ve never been in an earthquake but one was felt in ye olde hometowne a few years back. Sis said it made her fall out of bed. Mom said she felt it and sat down on the floor figurin’ that would be safer than standin’. It was labeled a mild earthquake with the epicenter somewhere’s in nawth Alabammy AIR. Ye olde hometown is 15 miles from the Jawja/Alabammy state line.
sari I dealt with a friend like that who would want me to always pick were we ate. Once I took us to KMart and said we were goin’ to have the fried fish in the KMart cafeteria. This was back in the day when KMarts had such things. Ya know, he came up with a suggestion of where to eat right quick that day.
lucky a couple of weeks ago some fool here called 911 because MickeyD’s got his order wrong. That did not go well for him,so don’t do that, ok?
Rio be sure to look wistfully in the distance and lament on how you miss the good ol’ days of public hangin’s and picnics on the town square.
The earthquakeI was refering to.

Loituma Girl (also known as “Leekspin”) is a Flash animation set to a scat singing section of the traditional Finnish folk song “Ievan Polkka,” sung by the Finnish quartet Loituma on their 1996 debut album Things of Beauty.[1] It appeared on the Internet in late April 2006 and quickly became popular.[2] The animation consists of four frames showing the Bleach anime character Orihime Inoue twirling a Welsh onion, set to a 27-second loop from the song. Thanks for that. In return I give you this little ditty, because one good turn deserves another
Way back when, when I was going to Fahrman Skool, I went to the McDonalds across the road from the community college where the classes were held. For some reason known only to Og, they insisted on giving me some variation of Dr. Pepper when I ordered a Diet Coke. After the 3rd time I choked on that vile drink, I took the entire order to the drive-up window, handed it to the person (the fiasco started with her), and told her that if they can’t get it right, then I didn’t want their food and not to expect my business in the future. Then I drove off without getting a refund, and went to the Hardee’s down the highway for a delightful, correct, and cheaper meal.

We felt the 2011 Virginia Earthquake on Lawn Guylindt. The building shook enough that they evacuated us.
What no follow-up poison pen letter? Slacker! ![]()
The alarm woke me up this morning and as much as I kept hitting the button the damn thing wouldn’t turn off. I kept pushing and pushing the button and it’s just got louder and louder and I was getting more and more annoyed with the damn thing.
Then I woke up and shut it off.
Home from lunch.
We went to Mikie’s which is a little hole in the wall place that serves fresh squeezed lemonade and the best shrimp salad sandwiches with fresh juicy local tomatoes.
It was yummy!
I brought home a bag of Mikie burgers (10 for $11) for Sah-son and for my lunch tomorrow.
I’ve been in two earthquakes. One when I lived up in Conowingo and most people thought the proving grounds were testing new weapons. I knew it was an earthquake.
Although it did take until fall when the leaves fell of the trees to figure out that the rumbling noises had heard all summer was the dam being opened.
The other one was the one that ran up the east coast. First I thought it was the wind, then I thought it was a big truck driving by, then I yelled at Sah-son for doing jumping jacks in the house. That is when he came running to my room to say we needed to get out of the house and I looked around at everything shaking and said we’d be okay and we were.
I don’t know if it was my imagination or not but every now that then for the next couple of hours it felt like the ground was a little ‘wavy’ and everything was swaying a little.
**Swampy ** I remember when K-Mart had food, I was never hungry enough to try it.
Now I feel like I need a nap.
