The MMP that gets songs stuck in your head

Feeling slow today. Could be because I have meetings this afternoon. Don’t know why, but sometimes that happens.

But his other big hit was one of the best sing-along songs of ALL TIME!
Do you really want to hurt me
Yes!
Do you really want to make me cry?
Of course!

I had warning of that quake. We were on a multi-state conf call when someone in Baltimore started to freak out a bit & interrupted the speaker that everything was shaking & that they were having an earthquake. 10-12 seconds later, everything rippled underneath of me & the lights starting swinging from the ceiling. I calmly said, “Yeah, it’s an earthquake 'cause we’re getting it here now, too.” How often does one get advance notice that the ground is going to move under you?
I’m not sure whether it’s a cold or some allergies, but I am seriously contemplating getting a gun & shooting my nose off! I’ll feel better if I do that, right? Right?

As a geologist I really want to ride out a big earthquake sometime. The little ones I’ve been in so far have left me hungry for more. Hopefully it’ll happen right when I’m sitting down to eat some Jello.

Have you read Hemingway?

Howdy from da cave! Gonna heat up some bbq <snerk> butt <snerk> soon and toast up some <snerk> buns. <snerk> It’s like Beavis’ and Butthead’s dream meal!

Well I gave this Earworm to myself, I must share with you

This came up in a discussion about band practice tonight(yeah), we have to rearrange the space and the percussionist wanted to be closer to the drummer.

I always forget she was the drummer

Jim

**gotti **- a better word would have been cabinet - in the P-3, we called them racks… And this could not be procured via COTS - it’s got a specific purpose and it has to fit in a specific space aboard several specific ships. The original design and drawing have reasonable dimensions and tolerances, and I’m not entirely sure why we’re having to draw them again on our own title blocks. I’m also not entirely sure who’s making the stupid decisions - I’m starting to think the woman I’m supposed to be helping has instigated a certain amount of it.

In fact, today she apparently bitched to our boss about how I’m not working out. Um, she’s giving me shit jobs and has yet to offer any guidance about doing 3-D on AutoCAD. I was trained on it, back in '86 or so - I’m pretty sure I can’t be blamed for forgetting. It’s not my fault they don’t use parametric modeling to do their 3-D stuff. I kick ass on that, and it’s much more advanced. Anyway, I talked to the boss a bit today, and Miss Complainer is off on Friday, so I’m going to talk to him some more, I’m not going to threaten, but if I’m not permitted to do the job right, I don’t want to do it.

Anyway, I’m home. **FCD **has just left for Annapolis. He’s got to get some supplies for his art class, and with the traffic, he’s probably not leaving too horribly early. If nothing else, he’ll have a few minutes to get a burger for supper. I’ve got a load of towels in the washer, and I’ll toss in some jeans next. They’ll hang out overnight and **FCD **can bring them in tomorrow. Then tomorrow, I can get my stuff together for my weekend excursion to Baltimore.

It’s ridiculously hot, but come Firday, it looks like we’ll be back to more fall-like temps. Just gotta survive tomorrow.

Meanwhile, back to the job ads…

Jim, you are now on THE LIST. There is no band in this world I hate more than The Carpenters.

We had pizza at irk today. It was decent.

And since **Mom **requested it yesterday: a picture of the Neverending Teal Blanket.

The Carpenters, right up there with Barry Manilow, Chicago. KC and the Sunshine Band, Gary Puckett,
and a whole bunch of other names I shouldn’t know.

Poor old Gary, if she wasn’t too young, she was holding out on him or giving it to somebody else.

Think I’ll go listen to some Thievery Corporation to get the shit songs out of my head.

**Spaz **- in my mind, when you said never-ending, I envisioned something that filled rooms! :stuck_out_tongue: Love the color - what’s the pattern - 3 single rows and a double row? It’s hard to tell from the photo.

Towels are on the line, jeans are in the washer - they’ll go out in about half an hour. I’s tahred - I don’t feel like doing anything today, which explains why I’m still on the computer 3 hours after getting home.

**sari **- I absolutely HATE Gary Puckett. You should see how fast my hand goes to the radio when one of his songs comes on - I recognize them from the first 2 or 3 notes. ugh - much hatred I have for him! :stuck_out_tongue:

I can never quite hear that song the same way since that singer went to jail for beating up a male escort.

I feel the same way, just hearing one of his songs makes me see red. I don’t know why either. Any of the ones I named will make me change the channel but GP is a special case.

This will clear my head of any earworms and because it’s not in English it’s harder for it to stick. Even if it does though it’s okay.

If Mama Cass had just shared her sandwich with Karen Carpenter, they would both be alive today.

Oh OH

Bucket of fish

Sorry about the C’s I shall not do it again, I bet I get razzed by the band as well

Jim

I’ve belonged to a Gilbert and Sullivan society for the past 9 years and I still have songs stuck in my head from shows I’d played in all those years.

I’m going to knit the night away. I’m 9/11’d out…

I think our music collections would get along famously, sari. (This is my favorite Thievery Corp. song. I dated a drummer for a while, so I got a taste for songs with a good beat.) Except you don’t like Chicago. We’ll have to fight about that.

Mom, it’s neverending because this is the fourth or fifth time I’ve restarted the blanket. I’ve been working on it since last year. Here’s the pattern (PDF link at the bottom). I’m making it with a size N hook so it’ll come out more adult-sized.

Home from Evening Prayer over to the church house. I slackolyted without major mishap which is always a good thing. Also, I helped haul out some old electronic equipment that will go to recycle on Sattidy. The annual electronics recycle thingy is on this weekend. Among the things hauled off was an oooooooooold Royal electric typewriter of all things.

One of my favorite all time curses is “May you spend eternity at a Barry Manilow concert surrounded by screamin’, adorin’ Barry Manilow fans who will beat you mercilessly because you will continually be compelled to yell out I hate Barry Manilow!

Why do birds fall down from the sky, everytime you walk by? Just like me, they seem to be repulsed by you.

The VCTPMO has scheduled a broken alternator, 2 major Company visits and a re-inventory this month.

Drae, if I get picked for jury duty, I’m quoting Heavy Metal:“HANGING’S TOO GOOD FOR HIM! BURNING’S TOO GOOD FOR HIM! HE SHOULD BE TORN INTO LITTLE PIECES AND BURIED ALIVE!” That should get me out.

That joke is older than my grandmother, and she farts dust. :stuck_out_tongue:
