The Mobile MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 70 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 96. I foresee some pool time today. OYKW is takin’ off at noon so I foresee two pool loungin’ bears this afternoon.

This mornin’ I shall make coleslaw and prep the baked beans for tomorrow’s start of Summer ribfest and pool day. There shall be ten people here for quality pool time and piggin’ out. JDD and Partner have insisted on takin’ care of all the munchies and who am I to argue over a generous gesture such as that? I have also been told by other friends that margaritas shall make an appearance. We gots good friends, we do.

For now I shall have more caffiene, feed rumbly tummy and make myself presentable.

Happy Firday Y’all!

ETA: First on five!

I’m up! It was a night of weird dreams and broken sleep and almost getting bonked in the head by a twitchy spousal unit - he was having a dream or nightmare and all that saved me was that his hand was under my pillow. I was able to calm him down by rubbing his arm, but it still freaked me out. So, yeah, not a great night.

He’s at work - guess he didn’t get enough hours already this week… or maybe he’s just too dedicated for his own good. But he got some good news last night - a design he worked on last year is being incorporated on a whole bunch of Navy ships - it was a shock mount for an electronics cabinet. So yay for my sweetie for protecting sensitive electronics gear for the Navy!

He’s going to try to talk to his boss about getting time off for the cruise. He’s also going to talk to his folks about going along, but I know they won’t. His mother is terrified that one of them will get sick on the ship and their insurance won’t cover them and they’ll lose everything. She’s really a nice lady, but occasionally a little bit whacko. Anyway, I hope he gets an answer soon enough that I can confirm our reservation at the price I got yesterday.

I’ve had a bowl of cereal and I may go out and pull some weeds. **FCD **asked me to launder some jeans for him. And I need to call the furnace company about getting our annual inspection done - I had to cancel the first appointment. I also need to get someone here to look at the yard and give me an estimate on fixing that up. I should probably make a to-do list.

Happy Firday!!

Morning, I’m up, caffeinated, and off to irk

Congrats Soapy!!!

Congrats spaz!!!

I forgot to say earlier, Spaz glad you think the apartment will work out for ya.

I’ve been a bzzy bear. Coleslaw is made, beans are prepped, ribs are rubbed and I’ve got wood chips soakin’ for tomorrow’s rib smoke. Go Me! Also, the pool looks great and the water feels great. Coolish but not cold. I foresee some float time in the near future.

Link? My google-fu failed me in trying to find it.

Does that mean you won’t be co-working with our coaster friend anymore?

I still hate you.

I took off today to have turbine vents installed. The guy has come and gone. Monday is Memorial Day. I’m off for FOUR DAYS!
Put THAT in your smoker and smoke it!

They’re prepping the apartment pool today.

Garden has been weeded (partially - it got really hot out there) and fed and now I’ve got the sprinkler going to help soak in the Miracle Gro. Yard guy stopped by to see what work we want done - he’ll be back next week to measure and do a real estimate. So I need to call another yard guy to get something to compare to.

I put a deposit down on the cruise - we’re going to Bermuda, Boston, and Newport in August - hurricanes permitting. Yay! The in-laws may be joining us, and if so, I’ll just add them to our reservation.

Speaking of whom - FIL is going in for a heart catheterization on Tuesday - good thought appreciated. He’s 82 and in the last 5 years or so, he’s gotten really old. **FCD **is scared about losing his dad. I even offered to forego the cruise so we could go to Florida (ick) and spend time with his folks, but he doesn’t want to do that. It’ll be nice if they can come with us on the cruise.

Now I think it might be time to assume the knit position. I’ve made 3 hats that are pretty girly, and I should probably do some boy hats now. I’ve got purple and black - Ravens’ colors - I expect there are a few boys who would like that.

Sorry I didn’t do this yesterday. I have a tablet that I can’t figure out how to copy and paste with be aware that dates listed are Day/Month/Year instead of the Amurkin way
Happy day all, caffinating, X word complete and house cleanin to commence
That is all

So, plans are in flux, for those of you following the insane-o-drama that is my life. To explain - now, wait, there is too much - to sum up:

  • Dad has mixed dementia, and one of his major symptoms is that he now hates my guts. So, me being his primary caregiver was not exactly working out.

  • After months of this situation spiraling down, Mom and I agree that I’m going to take a month off in Texas, see my friends, and look for a job.

  • phoukabro minor very generously offers to let me stay with him, so housing is not a problem.

  • we’re coming up on the end of the month, and I’ve worked a total of two and a half days on a temp/contract position. My temp agency thinks I’m the bees knees, but they’ve also warned me that with my protracted absence, getting back into the workforce is going to be challenging.

  • I’m sending out 4-5 resumes a day, and other than my temp agency, I’ve gotten nothing. Bupkus. Zip. There are jobs out there, however there’s either some really skanky porn virus attached to my resume, or I’m just not what people want.

  • And yet, Dad has gotten so much worse emotionally, Mom wants me to stay out here.

So, I’ll continue to put out resumes, but my temp agency for pretty much any legal work they can give me, and thank my brother for putting me up rent free. At some point, I’ll need to change legal residences, but I’d really rather wait until I have a full time job to do that.

Oy.

Awww flytrap central AK ain’t that far. If you get on the road you can be here for pool time and ribs tomorrow.

Hello everyone. Congrats to to Soapy,** Spaz**, and** Congo!**

I was supposed to go in to work today, but opted to take the day off since it’s a DONSA anyway. I’m just plain tired and a day of rest and quiet will do me good.

phouka, I really hope things turn around for you very soon. I’m thinking good thoughts for you.

Hey** Jim,** I listened to some of the music on the site you posted. That is my kind of music. Love it. Maybe one day you’ll make it up this way.

I’m about 35 to 40 miles south of Seattle. Talking my husband into going to Seattle is tough, but I may be able to do it. It’s not so much the distance, but the stupid traffic and constant construction up there. He spends all day driving and the last thing he wants to do is more driving.

Do keep us posted us posted though. I’m going to try and talk him into it.

Lets try a Festival, they tend to be more out of the way. I can’t remember the name off the top of my head but we did one outside of Bellingham last year
Cheers

Second day of work was not the catastrophe I expected. I did pretty well without my helper from yesterday standing over me all day. Biggest issue was that I accidentally put a couple credit cards in as checks but the totals balanced so it wasn’t horrifyingly bad. Also my brain seems to be forgetting that it needs to work because I kept having duh moments.

Two more euthanizations today. One was the feline AIDS from yesterday and the other was liver failure. I didn’t try to get any lessons on the Feline AIDS one because it was really hard on the owner and there was no way I was going to barge in, in the name of science. However, I did get a lesson on signs of jaundice and I watched them euthanize that poor little guy. He was so cute and I wanted to hug him but they didn’t know what contagious diseases he had in addition to his jaundice so I couldn’t touch him. Damn people who don’t think that cats need preventative medicine. It was really hard watching him die but I know I need to get used to it. I can handle animals that are alive and those that are dead but those that are dying are really hard on me. I’m not alone though. The vet tech has been doing this for over 15 years and still cries with every euthanization.
Now I’m off until Tuesday and so is Sweetie so I’m going to enjoy a nice weekend with him and our cute and healthy mongrels.

Pizza good. Beer good. Bear happy.

Get to go interview the Director of the Coalition to Save Manned Space Exploration about the Space X docking and what it all means tonight at 8 for the 11pm show. A good geek conversation - should make me all happy for the weekend!

Very cool!

**tugig **- be sure to post a link. No offense, but I’m not staying up to watch the late news…

And the inlaws are going with us to Bermuda, etc. I’m waiting for MIL to get back with me so I can confirm their reservation. She’s supposed to call back tonight.

That’s all I’ve got for now. I think I’ll just log off and knit the evening away.
