(((((The MMP))))), because we all seem to be in need just now.
I’ve just come home from taking Shadow to the vet for his booster shots. He was half-asleep when I ambushed him and loaded him into his pet carrier, for which he spent the entire 5-minute drive miaowing piteously at me. Usually he has a poo as soon as he goes in the carrier, one when he gets into the car and another on the way there - he must have been empty today as there was absolutely no pooing at all which is a great relief.
The vet said he was a very handsome boy, and he sat there purring like a train even when the needle went in. He now has a clean bill of health and two shiny new stickers in his vaccination record. Hopefully that’s going to be his only visit until next April, and since he behaved so well he got a slice of ham as a reward when we got home.
Now I have time for a cup of tea and then I’m off to get groceries. After that, the rest of the day is mine, and I might well spend it on the sofa with my Kindle.
It does seem like some {{Everyone}}ing is in order.
Just booked my MOT (car annual check). I really hope it’ll pass easily…
I’m confused though that I’ve not had any reminder letters about my insurance/tax yet, which are all due the same time- good job I remembered it was coming up! Anyways, I should quit putting off going into the cold outside, and go do some gardening.
Ok, I don’t expect that there is any real resolution to what I’m about to write, but I need to vent.
At least 5-6 years ago my aunt (my mom’s sister) was having some trouble and needed a car and we had an extra one (note: just like the one that my mom drives now). So, my parents gave her the car to use with the stipulation that when she was done with it that it was to be returned. Well, we just found out yesterday that the car broke so she traded in our car on a new one. Most likely it was just sold for scrap. Her comment was that no one could find any parts to fix it, so it wasn’t worth anything anyways. The thing is that not only did we have that extra car, we have a few more of the same car here as well (don’t ask) all in various states of disrepair. And although we’ll never know, it’s likely that we would have the part right here. The other issue is that my mom’s car broke just recently and would be much more than the car is worth to repair it so now she’s been borrowing my van and I’ve been borrowing my dad’s truck and this will continue indefinitely. But we’ll never know whether or not the car that we gave to my aunt could have been easily fixed so that my mom had something to drive.
I’m sure that I’m rambling. The thing is that we’re all really hurt that after doing something nice for my aunt that she would do this. And she knows my mom is upset and her attitude was just basically too bad because the car is long gone and there’s nothing to be done about it now. :(
StickyBuns I trust that aunt understands there will be no future favors? True there’s not much, heck anything, really you can do now, but you can make dang sure it won’t happen again. I think we’ll all agree that she is a big ol’ poopyhead.
This was my first thought, too. We’ve had our share of title issues, so I know some places pay attention to whose name is on it. Dang.
Back from my quest - $110 and change lighter. No bwoccoli, but I got a pretty head of cauliflower, which will be one of our sides tonight. I also scored a nice little chicken on sale, so it shall be rotissed for supper. I was also able to stock up on tissues and napkins, but I forgot the pickle relish, dammit! :smack: I had a list, and I didn’t put that on it. *grrrrrrr *Plus they didn’t have the chickie tits that were advertised in their circular. I shall have to return another day, I guess.
I exercised great self-control - I didn’t buy any ice cream. We’re trying to eat healthier, and the less crap I bring into the house, the better.
And I got a couple of hunks of cheese that need to be hacked up and sealed separately. We’ve got one of those Food Saver vacuum-seal thingies, and it’s kept us from growing fuzz farms on our cheese, so yay! I’ve also got some poke to seal and freeze. Good times!
