Ohh…that’s what gen means? I’ve been trying to figure that out for ages and the only places I’ve ever seen use it don’t provide a convenient list of abbreviations for me to decode it. I’ve learned something from this thread. (Well, a lot of somethings. Just most of the somethings weren’t something I cared to know.)
Yes, gen stands for “general interest”. Here’s a link to a nice fanfiction glossary , which ought to help demystify some of the terms you may come across while reading fanfiction in various fandoms.
I came across Full House slash once. Jesse, Joey, AND Danny. Two of them are related, for heaven’s sake! Well, by marriage. Right? Oh well, I don’t care, it’s still depraved. (I also came across a spank-fetish Full House fic where Danny has to spank a neighbor girl. It was one of the longer, more tedious things I have read; it went on for ages. But you know how it is with fanfic, you can’t look away.)
I also once came across Fox Trot slash. Jason and Marcus. Come ON, people!! Who comes across a comic strip, especially a comic strip with such weird, misshapen, one-dimensional characters as Fox Trot, and goes, “Oooh! Kinky sexy action! I must take this into my own hands!”
Neither of them appeared to be a joke, btw.
I hate to say some of the things I was thinking gen might mean before I figured it out. Thanks so much for the site though, that’s going to be extremely helpful and keep me from sticking my foot in my mouth even further.

Hearing about Prince Caspian/Agent Krycek slash was pretty disturbing. It might make sense(of course, fanfic is always a beacon of sense and truth 
) if they weren’t from two incredibly different universes, not even near the same genres, and in totally different mediums.
I’d say that it is the worst, but not that I’d ever imagine it. I’m afraid I’ll say something incredibly outlandish and it’ll turn out true.

And Kung Fu Lola, some guy wrote Buffy/Dawn/Joyce fic, and denies that it’s incest because “incest can’t happen between women”. Yeeeeeeah. Definately a back-away-slowly kind of writer.
I once saw a Giles/Snyder fic…it was the most bizarre thing I ever read. Until I read a Giles/Ethan Rayne/Aimee The Rat fic by the same author.
The worse slash is Dawn/Buffy, Dawn/Buffybot, or Dawn/Buffy/Buffybot.
