The Movie Game II

Couldn’t come up with any other Poitier films, could we? You force my hand:

Lulu

Well, I was going to say Sneakers, but I figured I was the only person on the planet that saw it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey, I liked that movie.

Well, okay then. Let’s go with Sneakers. ( I can change my answer, right?)

LOl. Is ok by me. Let’s go with **River Phoenix ** then.

My Own Private Idaho

One of the all-time titles.

And I’m again going to go with a one name, musical type. But in this case there are some good plays off of him:

Flea

Roger Thornhill: You do know the title is lifted straight from a B-52s song, right?

No idea at all. Never heard of B52s as a group either. Just as a weapon of mass destruction.

Actually, I’ve never seen MOPI, but I’ve associated with the Phoenix of the River variety ever since he died. Sadly, always a fail-safe way to earn fame.

On idmb I saw that the film of his I was trying to remember (ie the one I’d actually seen) was Running on Empty, which naturally as as enemy of “liberals” I found fascinating. But what was the name of that bird, the striking yet not especially attractive one with mousy blond hair and a fetching personality. Still acting?

Not sure who you mean? Martha Plimption? Christine Lahti? Somebody else?

The B52s are probably best known for their songs “Rock Lobster” and “Love Shack”. Might not have got much play in HK, though.

The Big Lebowski

Everyone’s favorite indie actor (except those for whose favorite indie actor is Paul Giamatti) – Steve Buscemi.

Mystery Train is the first film I ever recall him in.

Saw that one in law school.

Tom Waits played a DJ.

Cotton Club

I’ve been wanting to see this again, but my local library doesn’t seem to have a copy.

Gregory Hines.

The Cotton Club

I was going to post that; then I got a phone call. So, on Mr. Hines I think he was also in

A Rage in Harlem* (I’ll double check)

Nice coding, Shibb.

I was correct about

A Rage in Harlem

Robin Givens.
Y’know. …even now, years later, I keep asking myself…Mike TYSON??? WHY???

**
Head of State**

(which I thought was a cute movie, btw)

Bernie Mac
