The "Mr.Hooper Dies" Episode of Sesame Street

I saw a portion of this episode on A&E last night, and it brought me to tears (again). What a groundbreaker! Teaching little ones about death by using Big Bird and his innocent naivete. The tears the actors shed were real as well

I am a huge SS fan and I hope it’s around for many years to come.

Does anyone know if the actor who played Mr. Hooper was in anything other than Sesame Street? He reminds me so much of the late Fred Wynn.

Our local NPR stations are having their Fall fundraisers right now, and it is one of the few “charities” I contribute to. (Gotta get my classical music fix, and it WABE is the only station in Atlanta which plays it). I hope they make it, but I’m not very optimistic due to 9.11 and the nosedive the economy has taken of late.

BTW, I was pleasantly surprised to “see” the voice behind Elmo and to “meet” the guy who’s inside Big Bird. I watch SS with my grandkids, but I also watch it by myself. God rest Jim Henson!

Here ya go.

Our local NPR station just finished a record-breaking fund drive. They finished a day early at $50,000 over their goal. Their take on it was that a lot of people were listening who had never been public radio types before, because the news coverage and editorials were so much better than those on other stations.

That was when I first understood death was forever.

When I was little, I seriously believed that people would rise from the dead-not in a scary way, but like, when I was all grown up I could meet my great-grandparents-they’d come back to see me.
