Because the Republican Party has made a fucking crusade out of ‘family values’, trumpeting it from every rooftop, when in fact they are no better or worse than the rest of us. If you’re going to talk the talk…
I’m not aware of too many people equating “family values” with racism. Usually they’re far more interested in vindictive judeo-christian moralism.
Gotcha, Chefguy.
I get the feeling, though, that if said racist had been a Democrat, his political party of choice would never have been mentioned in this thread.
Just call it a hunch.
I think it’d still be worth mentioning, if only as a curiousity. Seeing a racist “Dixiecrat” would be like seeing a Passenger Pigeon on your windowsill. Wow, they still exist?
Not so much a curiosity, I can assure you.
There are tons of racists in the Mon Valley where I grew up, and precious few Republicans.
I think the point, Mr. Moto is that the deciding issue in this election was ‘moral values.’ As such, a party that champions moral values would be expected to fight racism. For a self professed member of the party to both hold moral values as important and be racist suggests a certain degree of janus-faced jackass behavior.
Then again, ceratinly, not all Republicans felt that this election was about moral values, so I’m sure YMMV.
I can see that. It does boost his asshole quotient, in my eyes.
I just wanted to ensure that not all Republicans were judged by his lovely example.
