The mysterious Shrinking Finger

-Sounds like one of those Hardy Boys titles huh? LOL

No, this has got to do with my wife’s ring & ring finger. I don’t know how it happens, but before I married my wife she was in a different country. I had her place a slip of paper and tape it to what was comfortable; I requested that she be able to make a fist without the paper tearing before she sent it to me.

She sent me this “ring” and I had it measured and requested the engagement ring in this size. (Btw- this ring is a coil shape; a “non-closed design” with the diamond pinched between the two coils). When she got the ring it was too large. I blamed myself for messing-up with the size.

Fast-forward to the ring resizing effort- now in the US, I take her to a jewelry store and I get her ring finger sized and then I spend $250 dollars for the French-Canadian ring designers to down-size the ring and for some reason they build in what I call a very expensive “doughnut” shape under the diamond in the ring.

And here we are now and I’m about to do it again… she must have half a centimeter worth of play between her ring and her finger. Excuse my language but what the hell is going on? Why is resizing her ring such a theme in my life??

Oh if you’re wondering, she hasn’t gained, nor lost 10 pounds since she got here. My wife can’t even be considered “chubby” or “soft-sided”. She maintains her figure fairly well. It’s like some kind of magic trick she’s performing with the ring.

Is there anybody out there with an idea or what is going on?

Was she maybe too hot or too cold at the various times she tried on the ring? Sometimes when I’m hot my rings will get tight enough to leave red imprints on my fingers. When my hands are cold, my rings will be very loose.

My husband has a summer wedding ring and a winter wedding ring.

Don’t some women retain water during “that time of the month”, causing swelling, including the fingers?

Leprosy induced finger bone shrinkage is another, if rather improbable, possibility.

My mother also finds that the amount of salt which she consumes makes a difference in how plump or skinny her fingers are --she retains water.

It shrinks?
