He was quite a person. He marched to the beat of a different drummer, that’s for sure.
I never knew him personally (only through media reports), but I loved his attitude and outlook on life. The world was a better place because of him.

A guy who thought that CLOTHING was some kind of conformity that facilitated a power struggle.
If the world was a better place because of this guy, who ISN’T it a better place for having them around?
Hardly. What if he had been a big fat hairy unwashed guy with stretchmarks, pimples and crevices who walked around with a perpetual hardon? Would you still feel the same way about him? Hell no, jeez.
I was a student at Cal-Berkeley during his time there. I saw him a few times on campus. Most of us my friends though he was just an attention whore.
He went to my high school, was a year ahead of me. I didn’t know him personally, but I did hear about him. He got naked at a couple of parties and things before going to Cal.
When I went to Cal, he was already known as “the naked guy.” He was very harmless, completely unoffensive, never any sexual overtures or lewd or outlandish behavior. One of the main reasons Cal had to start cracking down on him was because of the auditorium-style classrooms; when he walked past you, he either had his ass right in your face, or you got to say an up-close hello to Free Willy. It made some girls uncomfortable, and they complained. Fair enough, I think it’s reasonable to expect to go about your business without having to have some guy’s penis in your face.

And Ghanima, I heard that for reasons of hygiene, he did wear a loin cloth when going to classes. That was from media reports, so I don’t know the full story about that.
I think he had a refreshing innocence … maybe like that of a 15-year-old girl (or boy) … that I found interesting.
