OK, I’m confirmed. I got a room. I or MikeG or both of us will be driving down. My car only holds two comfortably and I was thinking that Mike and I would go down together. If people need rides, or just want to consolidate a bit, let us know and we’ll work something out. I didn’t check with Mike on this yet so it’s all tentative.

Just had an idea. I wasn’t planning to go down until Saturday, but if a some people wanted to party with me on Friday night in Chicago, we could all crash at my place Friday night and go down in a carppol on Saturday.
I refuse to confirm those ugly rumors about the Strip Balderdash party happening after hours in our hotel room…
I am going to be going down on Friday afternoon unless something odd happens. I have booked a room, but with with the one king - no queen doubles available when I booked.
I wouldn’t mind getting a ride from someone as my herniated disk may not be particularly happy if I drove for 3+ hours, but I’ll manage fine if need be (two short stops on the way to stretch). If someone wants to ride with me, that would be cool, too. The rear seat in my Jeep is a bit cramped and currently covered with dog hair, but I may get it to the detail shop to get rid of the dog hair before then. I am in the NY 'burbs. One caveat is that I can’t deal with smoking in my car - sorry.
I am in no particular hurry to get back on Sunday.
Of course, I am in the NW 'burbs, not in NY. D’oh.
I just got off the phone w/ The Courtyard and they told me two very interesting and important things:[ul]
[li]There doesn’t seem to be a block reserved for any Adams, Cecil Group/Family Reunion or otherwise. I’ve got a message in to the woman in charge of group sales, though, because I tend to like to track these sorts of things down, and[*]While they do have rooms available for Friday night, they do not have any remaining available for Saturday (this is assuming there is in fact no block already reserved)[/ul][/li]As a matter of course, I called the Sleep Inn and found that not only do they have rooms, they have good rates. Your choice of two beds or a Queen goes for [sub]<snicker>[/sub] $69. Military/government rate is $55.
I’m planning on leaving Louisville shortly after noon, and as it’s about 320-some-odd miles, I should get there shortly after 4:30. I’m just ticked I couldn’t find a room with a hot-tub. 
Aiight, got a room at the Sleep Inn for the 6th and 7th.
Now this was funny,
I first rang up the Courtyard Marriot. Now in the midst of inquiring about room availibility on the 6th and 7th the Cleck goes, “Whoa - we’re sold out on the 7th! OMG, what’s going on!? Wow, this is crazy!” Hee hee.
Supposedly there’s 4 hotels lined up together: The Marriot, Sleep Inn, and 2 others. So I asked which place he’d recommend. He said go with the Sleep Inn 'cause (1) it’s the cheapest and, (2) 'cause the other hotels have (supposedly) been having some “problems” as of late.
Anyway, to sum up - the Sleep Inn has plenty of rooms. And the Courtyard is now sold out for Saturday (now that I previewed this I see thinksnow beat me to it).
Taking a looky at my handy dandy E-ticket, I arrive in Chicago O’Hare at 2:45pm on Friday. (Like da plane’s gonna be -on-time- haha!)

Otherwise, if any other Chicagonians are availible for a mid-afternoon pick up, gimme a yell (email’s in profile).

I think that a Chicago Fri. night party is a great idea! I live less then a mile from Vile and ihave a sofabed so there will be room here as well!

Okay, I am definitely coming - but here’s the situation…
I will be up in Boston from April 1 to April 6. I’m taking a class on Radiation (no shit) at the Harvard Institute of Public Health (i.e. Nerds will be involved). So I will be desperate to get back and party (with the nerds of the SDMB - a completely different kind of nerd). Who do I call to find out what the final plans are on Saturday night? Will someone post the final plans on here so I can check it out and meet up with you all? I get in on Friday night and will probably crash out until Saturday. I’ll check the board for updates.

For those who are wondering about the beer selection at the Barrel Head, you’ll be pleased to know that they seem to favor the British Isles. Harp’s, Bass & Guiness are all available, as are most major domestic brews.

Sadly, I’m going to have to downgrade my status to a low “maybe”. Given a general lack of funds for a hotel room, the fact that the brakes on my car need some serious work and my possible work schedule, it’s seeming less and less likely that I’ll be able to attend. C’est la vie and I’ll keep trying to see what I can come up with.
I guess I said, “I’m in!!” way back when. Sadly, I have to now say, “I’m out.”
I will miss you guys bunches, but I’m giving my son’s third birthday party on that day.
I’ll hope to attend a gathering over the summer, if anyone has thought to put anything together that far ahead yet.
