Screw the smilies…What I want to know is, how come everyone’s changing their names? SimonX is now PatriotX,…Machetero is…UnregisteredBull…and so on…Did I not get the memo? Is this some kind of wacky prank you’re all pulling on me?..How is my autonomic nervous system supposed to respond if, say, Duffer were to start calling himself “The Master Cylinder?”
I like the old smilies better. Those temporary new ones really stunk.

As another poster said, cartooning up to match the dumbing down? The softer side of the SD software to match the softer side of the SDMB?

Yep, the new layout and graphics reek, but I guess I’m just an old-school stick in the mud for attractive graphics and layouts.

I’ve wasted one whole hour reading these silly posts. Amusing though.
The new graphics appear to be vBulletin default stock graphics. When the SDMB administrators updated the board to 3.0.7, they likely overwrote the old graphics in the /images directory. There’s a special graphic-free vBulletin update they could have downloaded to avoid this.
A while ago, I created a custom vBulletin graphic theme based on GNOME icons. The graphics are tasteful, neutral, small in both physical and file size, and they got plenty of kudos from other vBulletin administrators. The SDMB admins are more than welcome to use them.
