It’s like we need to hire someone to clue newbies in on this board. No one rips a new poster just because he is a new poster. A new poster will be ripped on if they show up and immediately start posting about how great they are, how the board should be improved, or how wrong an established poster is.
An old poster will be ripped on for the same thing. Heck, if a new poster quits acting like an idiot or a jerk, they will eventually be viewed in a favorable light. Remember, it is the first impression (especially on an internet board where your words leave the only indelible impact of your presence) that truly matters.
It’s that simple. If you are indeed new, don’t have some sort of complex or attitude because you think you’ll be picked on for being new. I never was. Hardly anyone else that posts here even semi-regularly was.
Try to post somewhere else besides the pit. Welcome to the board.
badhrt - I get the impression that you haven’t been reading the board for very long. I myself have seen many newbies anounce their presence in MPSIMS and they are warmly greeted. This reps the Old Timers have of being bloodthirsty is just an angry-newbie disinformation conspiracy. You only need to remember the Prime Directive - Don’t Be A Jerk - and you’ll be fine.
