First came the scroll wheel, which is really cool. Now they’re marketing scroll wheels that can be tilted to the side (for scrolling left or right). I’ve tried out these new mice in the stores, and IMHO tilting the scroll wheel is kinda annoying. What they need to do is replace the scroll wheel with a small trackball. That way, you could scroll up & down, or left & right, or both at the same time!

What do you think? Good idea?

I say bad idea. A trackball is too loose and sensative. I would think that merely moving the mouse itself and abruptly stopping (like I do a lot while playing games) would force the trackball to move, thus annoying the hell out of me as it change my weapon in a FPS, or scrolls the map in a RTS.
