Did I say slow? I meant glacial. This doesn’t look like it’s working. Probably doesn’t help that my home PC is still on IE 3. (Yes, 3. I use the internet access at work because it’s a T1; this home connection is just for occasional use.)
I’ve got an empty chat window, doesn’t look like it’s connected. Maybe Geocities?

Then I downloaded “mIRC for Windows 95/98/2000” and installed it.
See if you can get that far.
I downloaded mIRC a few weeks ago, I would recommend it. You get 30 days free, and then it is relatively cheap.
Make sure to choose an undernet server, and then look for the straight dope chat room. Click on mrblue’s name, and it will take you to a private chat room. Email me if I can help you.
Found, recieved, unpacked, did something with an undernet server and a nickname…
