As a cross between science fiction and military aviation this was pretty much guaranteed to grab my attention from the outset, but I didn’t expect it to have such an interesting depiction of a really ‘alien’ alien invasion and some thought-provoking concepts (ie: humans building machines to fight machines and said machines building humans to fight humans, with mutual misunderstanding and incomprehension).
I actually saw the anime series before reading the books and while I enjoyed the action sequences I couldn’t quite follow the plot, and I wanted to do nothing so much with the main character as give him a good shake, Rei Fukai in the book is a much more interesting and lively character and the plot is much easier to grasp.
Just wondering if anyone here has saw/read it and what they thought?
In addition, apparently there is a third novel in the series but it hasn’t yet been translated to English, is there any way to go about contacting the publisher of the previous books and encouraging them to do so? I’d really like to read the third book!
