The odd coincidence MMP

When we were dropping off our riding mower at Amish Dave’s Engine Repair in Loveville, as we chatted a bit, he pointed out a couple of buzzards on the roof of a house across the street. Then he mentioned how he once saw a buzzard on the roof of a restaurant. We agreed that was probably not a good sign.

Happy KopekDay!!! ** Or should they be belated wishes - you posted after midnight…?

Work was a struggle. I woke around 2 this morning and wasn’t able to get back to sleep other than sporadic catnaps. Then for some reason, I thought it was Thursday, so I was rather pissed off when it wasn’t. I’s exhausted!! So I’ll be hitting the hay early tonight with perhaps the help of a little hard cider. And maybe melatonin.

**FCD **bought a couple of chocolate chip starfish for the tank. Over the weekend, he got some Chromis, 2 snails, a sea cucumber, and a sea urchin. And we discovered that the clams on the live rock are alive, altho they’re boring. Oh, and we saw a teensy weensy sea cucumber on the live rock - we never would have figured out what it was without having the one that we just got. Our tank is way cool!

Supper is tuna steaks teriyaki, speaking of sea life…

And that’s pretty much all I’ve got for now. Maybe more later, maybe not. Happy Monday!

I can’t think of any coincidences right now, although I’m sure I’ve had some.

I bought x-country skis on my day off on Firday then went out and used them Firday and Sunday. And tonight if I can get out of work soon enough. They’re slick.

We have a friend whose family owns a cattle ranch so she often has weird cow parts. We’ve previously had a heart that she gave to us, and yesterday KT made stew with the oxtail that she gave us. The heart was only ok, but the oxtail stew was really good. There’s still a tongue in our freezer that I’ve been eying with suspicion.

Back to work.

Hi everyone. Stinky vultures. Lovely.

Busy week ahead- the little princess turns thirteen this week. I’m stunned at where the time has gone. Oh, by the way- I got the Chair position I was hoping for. No, not reclining (heh)- but Chair of my department for next year. Pretty please about it, but ask me this time next year if I’m still smiling.

Very confusin’ re the birthday indeed Ruble. However, be that as it may…

Congrats Soapy! Does the chair at least vibrate?

Congrats, Soapy! That’s awesome. I’m sure it’ll be stressful, but you’ll do a great job. And, of course, Happy Birthday in advance to your daughter.

Happy Birthday, Ruble!!!

Feel better, LiLi. Hope Aerin has showed up in the meantime.

Almost forgot: tongue is really really good, taxi. Not sure I’d want to prepare it, but it’s yummy.

My odd coincidence of the day is that I just saw the first of our vultures on Friday. We have turkey vultures downtown. They like to fly around our tall buildings and hang out on the ledges outside our windows.

They used to come back mid-March (close to St. Paddy’s), but the last couple of years it’s been very early March. Saw one kinda sleeping on the windowsill on Friday as I was heading toward a meeting. There were a couple cruising around between buildings today as well. They’re not pretty up close, but it’s really cool to watch them fly.

My oddest coincidence ever was running into a guy who used to study in the same little library as I did when I was an undergrad at Michigan State. (The building where I had most of my classes had a little library that belonged to one of the departments. There were only 3 or 4 of us that hung out there regularly.) I ran into this guy 3 or 4 years later. Where were we? In line at a youth hostel in Berlin. He was teaching by that time and had organized a trip to Berlin with some of his students.

Tired. Off to inspect kitchen and bed.

Hugs.

GT

 were you at my left or right?

(I’m thinking left, technically, since you’re significantly west of me)

I suppose it all depends on which way you were facing.

Thanks to you, Swampy and everyone! I have issues with birthdays sometimes (call it survivors guilt or sumptin) but this was a really nice one and one I enjoyed sharing.

Teenagers. humph.

Happy KopekDay!

Nothing about vultures hereabouts, but I do have a coincidence from last Friday.

I’m reading a book called Scourge. It’s about how smallpox was nearly eradicated from the planet, the argument over destroying the last laboratory stocks of the virus, etc. On Friday, I was reading the book at my local Starbucks.

Scourge also touches upon the likelihood of bioterrorism involving smallpox. It mentions that President Clinton was scared poopless by a novel called The Cobra Event, about a mad scientist unleashing an engineered form of smallpox upon the world. Apparently, the then president was moved to call together an advisory committee to look into the possibility of the events in the book actually happening.

On my way home from Starbucks, I stopped to browse at the dollar shelf of my local used bookstore, and what do you think was for sale there? A big honking hardcover copy of The Cobra Event!!!

Well, says I, this is definitely a sign from Athena, goddess of wisdom. And for only a buck too!

Haven’t started it yet. I wonder whether I will be scared poopless as well, or if Clinton was just a big wuss.

Morning all! It must be nearly spring, the sun is shining for the second day in a row.

I had a lovely day off yesterday - well, I don’t believe it’s right to be at work on your birthday, do you? And as it was my birthday yesterday, I had the day off. I got up late, went into town and did some errands, pottered round the shops, had some pampering time back at home and a quiet evening with the cats and a good book. Perfect way to celebrate being a year older.

Back at work today, then off to Fat Club tonight to see how much extra weight that year carries.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN Another cool but mild mornin’ in south Jawja.

Since she has admitted it, the followin’ ensues although a day late.

On that note, heh, I go in search of more caffiene and brekkie for rumbly tummy.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Blurf this morning. Up waaaay too early.

But I can still sing it out!

Happy Birthday BooFae!!!

Oh my gosh! Happy belated birthdays to both Ruble and BooFae! I’m so sorry that I didn’t get on earlier to post this.

Here’s hoping that kitty Aerin has turned up, LiLi - I guess there’s no news on Bailey to report? Congrats to Anyrose for having a good time over the weekend and for the game she learned.

I wasn’t feeling good yesterday but ignored it, so today I’m full-blown sick again! I am NOT a happy camper but have to buckle down and just take the day off to try to get better.

Rosie’s .sig to all that I missed, as well as my apologies. I’m just feeling really ooogie, unfortunately. :frowning:

I am officially impressed with American Express.

Saturday, within 10 minutes of reaching the old VunderLair, I got a call from AMEX asking if I made an on-line purchase for $300 at Wally*World.com.

“Uh, no. I did just rent a carpet cleaner from a Lowe’s in Franklin, VA.”

“We see that you did. We will cancel the Wally*World order as fraudulent, and cancel your card. You will get a new card and number on Tuesday, delivered by UPS.”

Well, buddy, I’m 200 miles from home. I hope I don’t wreck or have a breakdown tonight…

The UPS guy showed up YESTERDAY with my spiffy new card. I was happy X 2.

Caffeination in progress, and brekkies et. Carry on.

Happy belated Birthday Ruble!!!
Happy Birthday BooFae!!!
In other news, Gordie ate my prescription sunglasses, and Nelly whizzed on the bed this morning. Anybody want free dogs?

Aerin turned up. stupid cat got herself shut in a drawer for ten hours.

Morning. Happy pancake Tuesday! I’m cooking pancakes for the hordes tonight.

Happy birfdays!!

Yesterday was my little brother’s birthday, too.

I forgot to tell you guys to uncross your appendages! I got my promotion! It doesn’t go into effect until May, though. But we get merit raises in April, then I’ll get my promotion with another raise. w00t! I don’t know how much, though.

I better get busy and earn my keep…

And that of one of the tanks in my guild, a guy I’ve been playing with and guild-hopping with for about 4 years. Very busy day!
So,
BELATED
CONGRATULATIONS
to our yesterday-birthday folk and to you on the promotion!

My Dean just called me sweetie as we hung up. At least I didn’t say “love you!”
