Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ on a cloudy morn in south Jawja. It’s suppoesed to be rainy today which is appropriate for Ash Wednesday, I guess.
I shall go get ashed this evenin’ at the church house. Today I get to go to Thomasville, Jawja which is a pretty little town about 65 miles south of here to do a presentation. I get lunch out of the deal so there’s that.
I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then I must purtify for irk.

I’ve been having back problems agin. The furniture-less night we spent in the New Lair I slept on the floor so VWife could have the futon, and I woke up pain free. I slept on the floor once more last night, and I’m pain-free this morning.
I think I see a pattern developing. :rolleyes:
Spicey, we are indeed settling in, albeit slowly. A lot will get done this weekend because I’m getting a rental truck to take all the [del]shit[/del]extra stuff we have to our storage unit. That sucker’s gonna be stuffed full. Once there is clearage, the rest will fall into place.
Alas, I must irk now.

Our weight loss challenge team here at work gained over the week. I seriously think those scales are unreliable. Seven pounds? Hmm. Anyway, we had to donate $7 to the kitty. Bummer. I worked out extra hard yesterday after that.

My mom used to make boiled beef tongue, and even as a single digit kid, I liked it. Whatever she did, it tasted very much like corned beef, and had little fat to it. It was fun grossing the other kids out by taking a tongue sammich to school for munch. I was a weird kid, because at the same age, I liked spinach. I wasn’t so weird that I liked broccoli or horseradish; my tastes for those came much later.
I can’t exactly ask her what the recipe is anymore, and I doubt my sister inherited it. She was always squicked out by cooked beef tongue…

So it was a really up and down day yesterday. I got my raise, and KT’s company announced that it’s going to be laying off 1/3 of its workforce over the next 12 months. ::sigh:: Here we go again. This is the third major round of layoffs in the 4 years he’s been there. I think this one really does signal them circling the drain. But he’s going to wait it out. So this may be a long, draw-out drama. Fun.

I look like I was punched in the face and have two black eyes. My dark undereye circles have dark undereye circles. I did not sleep well and got woken up early and had to come to work and wait for a repairman so I didn’t put on any makeup. I look scary and I have to go to the store, I hope no one mistakes me for one of the undead and stakes me. I shall have to try not to shuffle and mumble “brainsss”.
It’s grey and dreary and looking ready to rain. I was hoping to get my new azaleas in the ground before the rain arrived, but it’s just too icky outside to dig in the dirt. So they’ll get planted after.
Supper will be spinach-n-fake crab quiche. I didn’t get deep dish pie crusts, so I won’t be doubling the recipe - I think a single will do it, considering all the fillings.
**BBBobbio **- is that the yard sale stuff you’ll be storing??
I came home to a mega hairball near the cat tree. I’m thinking maybe I need to brush Ziva. Ya think?
Off to the kitchen with me now - there are quiches to be quiched!
Home finally from T’Ville. It’s rainy and ick out and poured all the way back from the mighty T to Albeeeny. At least it’s not freezin’ cold and rainy. 'Tis rather mild with the temp at 62 Amurrkin out right now.
I just ate some leftover mac & cheese and cabbage. I went meatless bein’ as it’s Ash Wednesday. OYKW called while I was drivin’ back to say he was tahrd and if’n I didn’t mind, he was just goin’ to his place and skippin’ gettin’ ashed tonight. I told him I didn’t mind. I mean, after all, I can’t make him not be a heathen now can I? 
I understand the tahrdness cause I’s tahred too and it’s all ick outside. However, I shall get ashed cause, well it’s Ash Wednesday.

I crawled out from under my rock to say that I did not care for the texture of beef tongue when my grandmother tricked me into taking a bite when I was a kid. It’s very tender - to the point of being too soft for my taste. More than a few years later I had a boyfriend who requested it, so I bought and cooked one. Maybe it has something to do with an overactive imagination and too many horror flicks, but cooking and preparing it was - to me - ghastly. shiver I have never been near one since, unless it was in a living and breathing cow! YMMV, lol!
It’s a blustery day in my corner of the world, but bulbs are sprouting in my yard, and the lilac near the front window has fat leaf buds that are greening up nicely. There has been a lot of snow in Kodiak, pleasant to have not weathered another Alaskan winter!
I would say that I miss you guys, but I lurk, so you are all in my world daily even if you don’t know it!

Quiche is in the resting phase - I’m pretty sure I linked to the recipe for the blog - but it’s baked 30 minutes, and now the oven is off and it’s sitting for another 25 mins. Then we eat. Yum!
Daughter’s yarn arrived today, so I’ll be starting her afghan tonight. She wants a super simple design - double crochet with 2 strands using a “P” size hook. One strand will be black, the other strand will alternate between pink and green for 2 rows each. It should be pretty - the green is neon but the pink is a deep, rich pink.

I had a weird dream last (appropriate to my username). It was about zombies. But I figure most people who have zombie dreams are having a nightmare about being attacked and overrun by the zombie horde. This wasn’t like that. We had the zombies under control and we were mopping them up. I was the leader of a team of zombie exterminators - we were clearing out buildings in some city. We had it down to a routine about how we would enter the building, search out and locate all the zombies inside, kill them, and then move on to the next building. It was like I skipped ahead to the final chapters of World War Z.
Still here. Possibly dead, but still here.
Going to kill the cat if she doesn’t shut up. She’ll make a nice hat.

Back from getting ashed. Went with Local Best Friend, her cranky daughter, and her parents. Brother went along as well. It was very crowded.
I have put laundry away and am now going to knit for a bit.

After much wailing and gnashing of teeth (only slightly exaggerating), my taxes are done.
FED - the couple times I’ve been on rat-poison I’ve tried to avoid seeds and nuts and stuff; I have some intestinal issues and dental that complicate such things for me and it just seems wise. You may want Himself to check into that.
Tofu dogs and burgers are really great if you add a little smoke to them. My wife and I did a thing where I would light a little metal cup of applewood or hickory shavings and put the burger or dog (cooked and ready to go) next to it on the stovetop and then cover both with this big glass salad bowl of ours — snuffing the little flame and adding smokey goodness throughout.
For the metal cup we use an empty metal holder from a tea light and to get it smoking a plain-old “Bic” butane match.
