The oddest posters

These handshake jokes are getting old. It’s time to move on to the dead baby jokes.

You know how I said that I was going through her posting history, and it felt like going through her underwear drawer? And that it was mostly boring underwear? Well, the thing is that I was really only looking at the top couple of layers. I should have dug a bit deeper. Turns out that there’s a dead baby in there.

Who’s the guy who insisted “let’s go throw things down the quarry” (or whatever it was) was a perfectly good replacement for “LOL”? Everybody told him it was super annoying but he would not stop saying it.

Also, the amateur lawyer lady who continually got into arguments with Bricker and other real lawyers (well, purportedly real I guess, it is the internet after all). Is she still around?

I’m not good with remembering names…

There’s actually more than one of those. (I can think of two offhand.)

Ah, I just remembered one of the threads was about Trayvon Martin, and a search led me to Stoid.

Also not sure why I didn’t just search for “quarry” earlier. That guy was Snowboarder Bo.

That’s Snowboarder Bo, but the reaction to that wasn’t universally negative. I still find it funny, and love it when other people reference it. YMMV, obviously.

That’s Snowboarder Bo, who is otherwise one of my favorite posters especially because he’s very knowledgeable about music and has very good taste, but that meme was very juvenile. I did similar things in school when I was 18 and found it very clever. Today, not so much. But the guy’s ok.

Snowboarder Bo is still an active member and people still joke about him and the quarry thing, but I don’t think he’s considered all that odd overall. He still throws in jokes about it himself occasionally. When he first started doing it, a lot of us were more puzzled than anything. It didn’t make sense to us in any of the contexts in which he used it. As I recall, after being questioned about it, he said that it was a reference to some TV sitcom.

Screwtape! I haven’t thought about that nutbar in quite a while. Herein is a wonderful exchange with Scylla on the former’s many glorious battles upon points of honor.

I still say he had one of the best flounces in Dope history.

You know, this came out a bit wrong. To clarify: I don’t mean the “oh, her baby died, how sad, why are you joking about that?” kind of dead baby. I mean the “she thinks killing babies is OK, and enjoys expressing that view it in a less than polite fashion” kind of dead baby.

Hey, I said in that other Pit thread that there should be a warning somewhere. Consider this the warning.

OK. I’m done with this now.

Suuuuure you are…

I think I shall hold you to that.

Well, I only meant that I’m done with it in this particular thread. In the other thread, it seems that I now have a pet troll, which rolls over and chases sticks on command. So that one is still morbidly funny.

I suggested that in iLemming’s thread.

As far as Agnew’s “nattering nabobs of negativism”, that line was written by William Safire.

Huh, I’d totally forgotten that I’d half-assedly defended him, but even I know when it’s time to stop doubling down.

Did someone already mention Lifesucks, who was convinced that surgery would be the death of his soul (or something like that)? (With a hat tip to Omar Little - I was thinking of this guy, but OL found him.)

Untold vigintillions of years and the dark gulf between stars?

US vigintillions or British vigintillions?

Once you get past a couple vigintillions, they all sorta blend together

Edit: Wait, what the hell? I just looked it up and the British have a different value for vigintillion?!?

cg16 sure gets annoyed about a lot of things. Just grabbing the last 4 threads he started:

He doesn’t like his toast mixing with other breakfast items.
He doesn’t like small ass-bags when shopping. (bonus link)
He doesn’t like teams who try to win games at the end of the season.
He doesn’t like it when people talk about teams that are not the Broncos.

More weirdness: the thread IDs of the first 3 are sequential. I picture him carrying a little notebook everywhere where he jots down the latest injustice so they can be remembered when he’s next at the keyboard. “Ooooh, egg-stained toast, you just made The List.”
