The oddest posters

Joyfool - I remember her. Her history says she hasn’t posted since December 2016; anyone know what happened to her? She was NOT odd; I always liked her.

ETA: Didn’t realize I was bumping a semi-zombie thread; I was doing some post-diving and found this thread, and saw some usernames I hadn’t in a while.

I miss her like hell. I hope she’s ok.

Depends on whether he’s from Albany or Utica.

This one is seriously bonkers … and notorious on the WWW. I’ve come across her/him on more than one message board. Blog: Blogger: User Profile: Springs1

If 66 and 606 are expressions in base 7, then their sum expressed in base 19 is
(6+6+6) 6

Just saying.

Base 7 and 19? Those Mercotans have some freak going on.

But, as usual, the guys come up short.

Behold–a fresh one.

Oh, shit. Another reason we Arkansan get deemed crazy and/or mentally deranged. Lovely. And ‘no’ I don’t go to Wal-Mart barefooted. Just saying.

…wait.

Steamed ham?

Wow, thanks for the link. She was quite a character. Wow, I’m glad I never waited her table. (and glad I never shared a restaurant table with her, honestly.)

Not so fast!

What’s next? Ralph vindicated when they build the ski lift to the top of Everest?

I’ve gotta say, it’s really lifting my mood to go back through this thread and click on those old discussions… well, really just pointing and laughing.

If there’re any other oddities that would give me some good snarky joy, do post a link!

eta: You can’t get much odder than ZPGZealot’s contention that offering to shake someone’s hand is the equivalent of rape. After she hijacked a number of threads with that, we had a whole thread trying to figure her out:

Nothing like what he was claiming. This new claim lacks support among those in the field. As that article concludes - “But there’s a sort of Occam’s razor of what’s the simplest thing based on what we already know.”

I looked at the actual paper. Possibly not altogether absurd for the relatively small Step Pyramid, though the system spoken of seems like a bigger project than the pyramid. Insane to think it was technology used to build the Great Pyramid, or whatever that crazy guy posted about.

Yeah, it’s between the lines but basically “well, it’s not impossible” which is a far cry from plausible or likely.

This thread is a real blast from the past, though. I had forgotten half of these

But it does make me wonder if the poster in question had heard some early rumblings of this theory and lost the details in translation, or alternatively the authors of this paper read his ramblings on the Dope or elsewhere and that sparked thinking of a way it could actually work.
