Despite the lack of funny, I still really liked this episode. Finding out how Karen is outside of work was a little shocking. She always appeared to be a strong very intelligent woman, but seeing her grill Pam like that was…harsh. And hearing Jim’s version of their talks, “We’ve had really LONG TALKS the past five nights in a row,” versus Karen’s “We had a bit of a rough patch but have had some really good conversations,” is definitely laying the groundwork for a brake-up.
Before this episode I would have screamed at the Jim for passing up on a great catch like Karen, but now…she seems a tad bit needy.
And Pam seemed really off in this episode, but It makes sense that she was sick. Cold medicine can make you do/say some pretty strange stuff sometimes.
For some reason I took it that she’s a recovering alcoholic. If she was a psychotic fundie she would have had a problem with the rest of the women drinking and probably would have said something. And to me she seems like too much of a control freak to get pregnant.
I always thought it was just that she was a giant prude. If she was an alcoholic she would have known the “sparkling cider” had alcohol as soon as it hit her mouth-- the implication was she has never even tasted liquor, to the point where she doesn’t even recognize it as such.
Angela has in the past opposed other people’s drinking; remember how she felt about Pam and Karen’s margaritas at the Xmas party? But she doesn’t always say that she has a problem-- sometimes it’s just agonized, disapproving looks, like the one she gave the stripper tonight.
I always thought she was a religious person who wanted everyone to conform to her values, not a reformed wild girl. It’d be funny if I was wrong, though, and it came out that she was a former party girl. Heh.
Well the whole temperance movement was started by Christians and there are some towns along the bible belt that do not sell any alcoholic, so I assumed it was a Christian thing.
I’m sure she would love to have all the girls become decent Christians, but they do not always listen to her.
I’m not so sure about that. She is indeed a homophobe who hates drinking, but that could just as well describe a Muslim as a Christian. She also sleeps around with Dwight. Has there been any episode in which she identifies herself as Christian?
Yeah, is it possible Dwight thought he was supposed to be a reincarnation or channeler of BF, because him thinking it was the actual BF is beyond nonsensical?
There was the time the all of the men met for a rap session in the warehouse. At one point they are complaining about women and Dwight says something like, “They make you get up early on Sunday mornings to go to church.”
Also, there was the episode where they played Desert Island, the question being “what three books would you want to have with you if you were stranded on a desert island” and Angela’s answer was the Bible. I think she then amended her answer to add “The Da Vinci Code - to burn!”
I didn’t tape this episode because I figured I’d just watch it online…and it wasn’t available. Short two minutes scenes and deleted scenes, but no Director’s Cut or Watch It Again option…though there was an offer to download it for $1.99. Did I wait too long? It’s only Sunday…I wanted to watch it during (instead of) the Superb Owl.
I’m not sure you understood me. I want to watch it for free, like I’ve done the past few weeks. I don’t have any iThingies, I don’t want to spend $1.99 on it, I just want to sit in front of my son’s laptop ('cuz I can’t get any videos to play on my computer) and watch the show.
