Only her voice… Jim called the office to show how responsive they are vs the big companies. When she answered on the first few rings he had proved his point and hung up before she said anything too goofy.
Prediction: Undoubtedly Dwight will be back.
The only question is how many episodes will it take (two) , whether Andy will leave himself (yes) and how many will come to Dwight’s defense and thereby change the dynamic of their relationship with him (most/few if any).
We laughed so hard at the look on Dwight’s face after being hit that I had to rewind it to see it again. That was great physical comic acting.
Knowing what she knows now, I wonder if Karen will give up on Jim and move back to Stanford.
Boobs. Heh. I love a cheap joke. And already once this morning I told my husband if he took out the garbage I would love him long Tim.
Don’t forget, first Dwight gets a headrest in the face (after expounding on the safety of his seat choice), then Jim gets a slap in through the superior frontal defenses.
Pam to Happy Angela: “I bet you wish you were like this all the time.”
After Ryan “took the lead,” Hubby said, “Stanley doesn’t get that excited even for pretzel day!”
I loved how Michael totally fell for Andy’s crap when he was in managerial mode, but was invulnerable in salesman mode. Loved him grabbing Andy’s neck - “Really, stop.”
But I think maybe the best moment was only a split-second long. It was Jim’s reaction to Karen’s new look. It was so brief, and yet so perfect. Krasinski is brilliant.
Oh, and btw I wouldn’t exactly say Jim and Dwight hate each other. They bring out a lot of petty behavior each against the other, but at times like the sales call and Dwight’s trip to the hospital, it’s clear it’s not really a hateful relationship. Much like in the British series, when Tim gives the manager job to Gareth, saying he’d be better at it.
Andy will be lucky to escape with his life. I’ve been hoping Ed Helms would stick around, but it will be fun to watch Angela destroy him utterly.
Angela isn’t all that imaginative. Dwight’s middle name is Kurt, IIRC. Want to be that Angela’s middle name is Noelle?
Ryan and Stanley I totally saw coming…I just didn’t know exactly how Stanley was going to screw him. Good stuff.
I was also impressed on how Phyllis actually made Karen look unattractive. That must have taken some work.
Anyways, one of the greatest episodes of a great show. I can’t wait to see Angela go all superpsycho on Andy.
-Joe
Yeah- man, Karen has a huge forehead. I think it beats Jennifer Garner’s.
Think about this - If Andy is really trying to climb the ladder in Scranton (he did say he wanted to be number 2) then next on his list is Jim. He could very well wind up with both Angela and Jim gunning for him. Seperately or (gasp) together. If that happens, the man is going to wind up as a wee greasy spot on the floor.
And don’t forget Michael’s big deal at the convention. He got some major paper company that was exclusive to Staples to let Dunder-Mifflin be a distributor.
As a kinda boring, older guy at my office who pretty much just keeps his head down and does his job, I really like that The Office acknowledges that most of the boring older guys (Michael, Stanley, Kevin - and Phyllis tho not a guy) are actually pretty damned competent at accomplishing their core duties. In fact, I love how Stanley, Michael, and Phyllis are so good at their jobs that it barely requires any effort on their part.
One that hasn’t been mentioned yet was the Amazing Race bit, culminating with Michael tossing Phyllis’ keys under the car. The bitch slap and Stanley laughing over Ryan got the biggest guffaws from me. “Hi. Hi. Hi.”
the bitch slap was great, as was the look on his face. And Jim’s “you still do that” comment showed that while they dont like the office personas they know how to work together in the field.
did anyone else know Kelly worked customer service? I always wondered what she did there.
I’m just fascinated that Phyllis and Michael are the same age - one episode referred to them going to school together and now, when Michael said something about her being a “senior” she spelled it out. Girlfriend needs a makeover and not the one she got last night!
Her makeover was sheer genious, I thought. When the prospect showed the picture he was so proud of from the Bahamas, his wife had a huge Texas bouffant and Tammy Faye makeup. Brilliant of Phyllis to stop by the Beauty Shop.
I liked how Phyllis knows her client so well that to make the sale she gets herself and Karen the “clown” makeovers so they look like the clients wife.
Yeah, and even Kelly makes sense as a customer service rep. You can see that she’d be really friendly and sympathetic and actually care about solving the customers’ problems and meeting their needs. As annoyingly chatty and bubbly as she can be in the office, those are qualities which would make her ideal for fielding the phone calls. It makes the show so much more realistic when it gives us reasons to believe that these people can do their jobs and that the office can actually function at selling its product. Portraying them all as only being inept or apathetic would undercut its credibility eventually.
If there was a flaw in the UK show, it was that the Ricky Gervaisse character was only portrayed as an incompetent ass. There was never really any reason to believe he would have made his way up to management. With Michael we’ve seen several times now that he’s a ninja on a sales call. He has no aptitude for management but we can see why he got promoted that far.
The Peter Principle at work.
That will go down as one of my favorite episodes ever. I love how it rounded out some of the side characters.
My prediction is that once the office, especially Jim, finds out the circumstances behind Dwight’s exit, Andy is a goner. Everyone will get involved and it will be epic.
I’m sure that Michael can’t cope without his lapdog in the office. Andy is more like a yapping chihuahua annoyance than a lapdog, so I see his rising star going supernova very quickly and Dwight returning triumphant.
I got why Phyllis got that makeover, but I’m just saying…for other times she needs to undowdy.
I really respected Michael last night. He was awesome and perceptive on the sales call and understood that Andy screwed it up. Being off-base about Dwight wasn’t just typical Michael stupidity either. That’s something anyone could have believed. My whole world is upside down now.
Well, she’s hot enough to have a boyfriend. What is his name and line of work again?
