Actually, I think it was totally selfish. Once again it was born of Michael’s need to make big gestures in order to get short-term attention, the need to feel part of a group, the need for praise, etc.

Have we seen Jim’s dad previously? I don’t remember having seen him before, but he must have been at the wedding. He was the guy with longer white hair. He seems exactly like I would expect Jim’s dad to look like.
After watching the Halloween episode and this episode back-to-back, I’ve realized that I’m looking forward to the post-Michael Scott episodes. I’m really sick of him and Kelly calling him out in the Halloween episode and him still acting like a douchebag was the last straw.
Although Pam pulling the same trick on him this week and him listening is, I guess, a step in the right direction.
Wish they had given Robert Pine (Jim’s dad) more to do…I mean, that hair is outstanding! And yeah, the “three month” trip (in November? if the show is meant to follow chronologically), took me right out of the episode.
“Wobblegone” was a nice treat at the end.
