Erin is a fan of Lake “Wobblegone”
Pam: “You said you checked the bag!”
Jim: “I did! … say that.”
Erin: Get in the car, quickly!
Michael: Why quickly?
Erin: So it will be faster.
Introduction of a new character: Sconesey Cider.
Perhaps Michael’s flirtation with the church youth group is going to be one step towards his leaving the company? I mean, he contemplated (not seriously, mind you) the idea of going someplace and starting something new. Perhaps we’ll see him start to explore other ideas in coming episodes? And it was amusing how much he enjoyed the fellowship in the church. I’m totally non-religious but for a really lonely person like him, joining a congregation might be helpful. (In an earlier episode, we saw him attending an improv class, but he was so overbearing that the class went out for drinks after without him.)
I agree, Michael seems to be maturing this season and they are obviously setting him up to ride off into the sunset. I mean, hopping on the bus was ill thought out, but he had good intentions and wasn’t doing it out of selfishness or the need for attention for once.
This may hold the record for worst Office episode ever.
a. it didn’t take place in the office, or have anything to do with their job (Dwight’s pandering aside)
b. it’s another one of those Jim & Pan hour episodes. I’m willing to bet NBC promoted the hell out of this too. If Jim just spoke up when the announcement was misread, rather than making sarcastic whispers, the reception disaster wouldn’t have happened. And of course, rather than actually trying to go out and get more food, they just kept dicking around.
c. Michael & Andy acting unrealistically stupid. I can’t buy that both of them thought running off to Mexico on a bus, without even packing supplies, was anything but a poor decision.
Once again, Angela saved the episode. I didn’t really get into her baby weakness (and I thought she was still cursing the baby for being a bastard?), but stealing all the scones won me back. Also, I was at least nicely surprised that they DIDN’T go with the Michael throwing a temper tantrum over not being picked to be Godfather. Props to Pam for handling that one correctly for a change.
a. I don’t care about the setting.
b. Yeah, it could’ve been avoided. Real life is like that all the time. Jim is great at sarcastic remarks, not so good at management.
c. Andy maybe, Michael no way.
I thought there were quite a few good jokes in this episode. Especially those quoted by Skammer. Many people think the show is becoming too broad, and think each episode is bad compared to the early ones. I think this season has been very funny.
I do wish there had been more payoff to Toby’s story other than “Why are you always so mean to me?”
I liked that the baby ended up wearing a t-shirt for my favorite band (Arcade Fire) for her christening.
They’re also doing a great job on their streak of making Ryan a different kind of asshole every week. This week: Condescending athiest!
I didn’t like the episode that much, but I liked that scene.
The opening scenes this season have been absolutely brilliant.
Agreed. Unfortunately, they’re often the best part of the show.
This was one of my least favorite episodes of all time.
Very poor. That’s all I have to say on this one.
i have no idea what the closing scene where erin turned on talk radio was supposed to mean
For the first time in a while, I thought Ryan had all the best lines.
“Everyone have their kooooool-aid?”
“Hope you brought your pipes - we’re about to smoke the opiate of the masses.”
“For all their generosity of spirit, they password protect their wireless?”
Kelly: “Try jesus.”
And the one about all the hookers in Cabo San Lucas are from that other town.
Other than that, I agree it was not a great episode. But it couldn’t possibly be worse than the “Michael stubbornly drives into the lake” episode.
I really loved the portrayal of the youth group–spot on in my experience. Cute, overenthusiastic girls with lisps . . . sounds about right.
The only thing I found unrealistic is that the trip was going to be for three months and that they just let Michael and Andy come along. Most youth group trips are 1-2 wks. What were these kids going to do about school? Also usually it involves tons of forms, prep beforehand, and fundraising, even for a week long trip

Was that actually Garrison Kiellor doing the “Lake Wobblegone” voiceover?
It sure sounded like him.
There was a thanks to Garrison Keillor in the credits and it sure sounded like him, so I assume it’s him.
