She did a fine job, but the first thing I thought when I saw her was, “Oh, Beadie Russell is leaving Baltimore for Scranton!”

And raising one of the most profound questions of our time: Who is more disfunctional… Michael Scott or Jimmy McNulty?
And can there be a show that features both of them?
Didn’t they previously have an employee who was there on a work-release type of arrangement from prison? Seems like an obvious way to keep Ryan on the show and also demote him back down to his former intern position.
I think that last little bit of Ryan douchebaggery really enhanced the enjoyment of seeing him go down in flames. It was just a little something to remind us what a prick he was becoming.
I also liked Jim rubbing it in with voicemail saying, “I can see your hands are tied.”
Ryan coming back as a work release intern would be great — especially since Michael would have more power over him than ever.

Phyllis walked in the office building after Toby’s going-away party. As she passed the elevator, she heard moaning, grunting and a soft steady thump that only a desk makes when there’s some sexxing going on. She opens the Dunder-Mifflin door only to find Angela getting it on with her beau: DWIGHT.
Dwight’s look of shock was absolutely priceless by the way.

[QUOTE=drpepper]
This was my take on it as well (haven’t rewatched the scene or anything); I recall him being slightly distracted and suggesting, almost unthinkingly, that she (“you” instead of “we”) can go to such and such place.

Me three.
I loved the exit interview. “WHO do you think you are?”
<pause>
“I’m…Toby.”
And the *I’ll kill you, I’ll kill you * look that Michael was “shielding”.
Any thoughts about why Angela accepted Andy’s proposal? Because she’s definitely gutsy enough to say no, even with his parents standing by. Was she trying to get Dwight to make a move?
My apologies for my lateness and ignorance, this was the first night of NBC I’ve ever watched. Do these people always stay at work all hours of the day and night, or was that just a skip so that they could show fireworks?

I was thinking along the same lines. Angela was taken by surprise by the proposal so I don’t think she was trying to call Dwight out. I think it was mostly her trying to get through an embarrassing social situation that was forced upon her.
By the way, that was quite an impressive party and fireworks for a few hundred dollars. Obviously we have been throwing thousands of dollars away frivolously during Calgary stampede for office parties.

Not sure what a “skip” is, but they usually leave early if they can. Toby moving away was a very special occasion.

IIRC, that character was an ex-con, no longer in prison. And he was black, to Michael’s consternation.
I thought this was a great, fast-paced episode. I had to laugh at Kelly wanting to look hot while visiting Ryan so as to impress the other inmates. Where is her head??? I hope Mindy gets to write her own character.
I don’t think that Michael even understood that Holly was inviting him to go with her. She said that she was thinking of going to get something to eat or words to that effect, but didn’t specifically ask him to come. Michael being him, just thought she was telling him goodbye. His call afterwards to Jan was because he felt rejected by Holly leaving the party. At least, that’s my take on it. The way he was talking about her, I can’t imagine him not jumping all over that.

No, I’m positive that Michael was actively turning her down. Seeing Jan pregnant and having the chance to be a father (sort of :rolleyes: ) changed everything for him.

I thought he was turning her down because he was taking Jim’s advice about not being overeager and too aggressive. Also, he was distracted by the Jan thing, but I think he still likes Holly and, had he somehow known he could score, maybe would have gone with her. He didn’t realize he actually had a shot, and didn’t want to jump all over her.
