I know it’s early but I’m a little worried about the teaser for this week…Michael hugging Pam and Pam saying “Um, do you have something in your pocket?”

By the way, Joss Whedon directed this weeks episode. I know a lot of Dopers love his work, so check it out this week.
J. J. Abrams directs next weeks episode.
I really liked this episode. Jim turning into a vampire. Michael having another one of his redemptive moments with his support of Pam and genuine appreciation of her art. Ryan being exiled to Kelly’s part of the office. Roy trying his hardest to be supportive of Pam and not knowing how (“Your art was the prettiest of all the art”). Even Michael’s “people” speech to Ryan was good and showed (again) where his heart is, regardless of his needy behavior. Oh, and I loved how quickly and easily Creed was ready to form an “allegiance” with Dwight that might require “sudden violence.”
I recognized the coffee cup and the building and a vase of flowers, but was one of Pam’s artworks a stapler?
What a serious episode. Except for Count Jim, of course. Dwight looks a bit like Renfield from the Bela Lugosi Dracula movie, don’t you think? Take off his glasses and I can picture him gibbering on that ship. Shudder.
“Animal Control? I’ve been controlling animals since I was six.”
Are we allowed to post spoilers in this thread?
I actually didn’t like Roy this week.
The past episodes have shown him, IMO, to be truly genuine with his actions. As in, he’s not just doing to make Pam happy. We know he wanted her back and all, but it seemed like the changes were happening deep inside him and not just superficially.
And I was disappointed in that Jim’s prank didn’t get more attention.
But this was a great episode none the less.
Roy was Roy. He tried hard, kinda fumbled through some of the niceties, and then bailed. It’s an improvement from before they broke up, but it’s pretty much in line with how he’s been all season. Well-meaning, but ultimately coming up short. I was surprised that Jim didn’t show up, but I guess that makes sense.
What did Oscar say about Pam? That being honest and something were not her strong points? Damn.
“It’s a Chunky.”
Definitely a great episode. Jim’s vampire thing was hilarious, as was Michael’s clueless presentation for the class. And the moment in the gallery with Michael and Pam was very sweet.
Thank God there was something in his pocket.
I think it was “courage and honesty.”
“Being here on campus brings back all the memories …that I would have had”
I must have heard him wrong. I thought he said courage and honesty were her strong points but that it didn’t come through in her art.
Great episode after two clunkers. Ryan getting his desk moved back to where Kelly sits was priceless. The best possible punishment.
I’m really disappointed that Jim didn’t make it to Pam’s show. It’s something that he definitely would have done.
Oscar said that courage and honesty weren’t Pam’s strong points.
I don’t see why Jim would have gone to Pam’s art show. For one thing, we didn’t even see that he was invited. For another thing, he believes that she has no romantic interest in him, he knows that she’s back with her old boyfriend and he has a girlfriend of his own who is already very sketchy about his friendship with Pam. There would be no upside to going, from his perspective, a likelihood of discomfort from seeing Pam with Roy and a better than even chance of another late night “talk” with Karen (or three or four late night talks). It wouldn’t be worth the aggravation. Even if he had gone, he would have had to go with Karen (no way she’d let him go see Pam by himself). Both of them would have been standing there with their SO’s and it would have been just another awkward exercise in studied evasion and politeness.
Pam and Roy are back together (sort of). Ryan has been moved back by Kelly which will allow Jim to move back to his old desk.
I’m worried this will turn into the same old Pam/Jim routine from seasons past.
It certainly didn’t take Roy long to start taking Pam for granted again.
I thought this was a great episode. The vampire prank was perhaps the best ever, and Michael’s speech had just the right mixture of funny and sad and touching.
The thing is, Oscar’s criticism of Pam is totally true. I hope she can take it to heart without losing the good qualities that she has… and I like her drawings.
Dwight explaining how he took Michael’s advice about “Don’t be an idiot” was hilarious. Something to the effect:
Before I do something, I ask myself, would an idiot do this? And if the answer is “yes”, I don’t do that thing."
Just hilarious.
I’ll be the voice of dissent on the vampire issue. Even with Dwight, there’s only so much I can believe he buys into.
The altoids trick was one thing, but this was too far.
Also, I thought the stuff with Michael was sort of off. Many episodes have made it clear that even with a buffoonish style, he can competently run that business, even in the face of competition, and this episode just threw that all away. He didn’t need to do it with an understanding of all the business mumbo jumbo, but this one didn’t even indicate he understood the nuts & bolts. And how they made up for it was sort of ham-fisted, and again slightly out of character. . .all of a sudden, his strength is that he understands his employees?
I thought the whole episode was a little off.
I have to wonder how in the hell he planned to use a Chunky in the candy-oriented portion of his talk.
