The Office 5/07/09

I loved the soundtrack. Can anyone post it from the credits?

Thank you! That was the scene that came to mind when Dwight reacted the way he did to the news about Bob’s affair. Another moment that comes to mind is Dwight starting a bidding war for a hug from Phyllis at the auction after he felt bad for not appreciating how she was trying to help him get over Angela.

I freaking love Erin. That is all.

I think I kind of love Erin, too - she’s like a puppy, she’s so eager to please everybody. I’m a little concerned for her as Michael’s receptionist, but maybe she’s just what he needs.

I’m a bit mixed toward this episode. OTOH I enjoyed the dance party scenes, and watching Michael do his best to get Angela to lighten the hell up. I like that he got what he wanted (the office folks letting loose) even though, typically, it was almost despite his efforts rather than because of them.

But Dwight is continuing to bother me. I’m worried about what they’ve done to his character. He’s gotten much darker, more disturbing, ever since “cuckholding” Andy with Angela. Instead of just being weird and offputting, he’s turning menacing. He was actually fairly sympathetic during much of the fourth season, while still retaining his Dwightness. Now he’s gone off the deep end, and I want that more likeable Dwight back. He had his nicer moments with Phyllis, but at this point his cutting open her shirt and treating her like a horse just seemed … Jame Gumby.

Andy continues to be a shooting star of awesome. Ed Helms is on fire. Every single moment of Andy is a gem! Was he doing “Mein Herr” from Caberet with the chair dancing? Maybe I have that song on the brain since I recently watched the video for the Cabaret discussion thread, but I swear his foot-kicking seemed just like Liza’s.

I was delighted that Erin got into Michael’s Cafe Disco. Shades of Holly! I have the feeling she won’t be staying though. I have no spoiler knowledge, but it just seems odd that we haven’t had a single talking head with her in it. Wouldn’t an entirely new character rate a TH so we can get to know them? Seems odd to me that she’s been so sidelined.

Same thing with Pam’s new status as salesperson. I feel like she’s been dropped into this brand new role without us seeing her experiences or learning curve.

Is next week the season finale?

I love Erin so much, I want to take her behind middle school and get her PREGNANT!

… wait, wrong NBC sitcom.
:smack:

Well, hopefully you won’t hold your breath on that one.

In 5 seasons, we’ve only seen Stanley and Phyllis interacting with customers once, during the Travelling Salesmen episode, and we’ve never seen Andy interface with a customer, unless you count that woman he was interested in dating earlier this season.
