In Florida, Robert California reveals to Jim that he’s going to kill the retail store program. Jim tries to warn Dwight not to accept the vice presidency, but Dwight finds an amazing variety of ways to ignore Jim.
In Scranton, Toby and Darryl are selling Girl Scout cookies for their daughters and they compete for the patronage of the office’s champion cookie consumer.
I don’t buy that Jim was so persistent about saving Dwight. It totally fits his character that he would try once to warn him, that’s fine. And then after talking to Pam, I believe he went back to try again. But after getting shot down and mocked mercilessly twice, he should have just gone home. Although it was kind of fun seeing Packer thrown under the bus.
I did like their part of the conversation that went “Your pranks have never worked before and they are not going to work now” “actually they almost always work”. But yeah, i don’t see why Jim would go through such effort to save Dwight.
The World’s Tallest Hobbit joke was funny. The guy who played Jim’s analogous character in the original series is, of course, Bilbo Baggins in the upcoming Hobbit movies.
I love that girl scout thing b/c it happens in my office to the point of supreme annoyance. I’ve taken to putting a tally on my door announcing how many boxes remaining I’m purchasing.
I liked it too, but it reminded me of how little of the comedy lately has been based in the corporate/office culture. Given that this show (both here and in the UK) was premised on the banalities on modern office life, I thought it highlighted thhow the show has drifted into more generic, character-relationship comedy.
I think both of them decided that they didn’t care if Kevin bought any cookies so they both walked away. Kevin then proceeded to beg for one of them to sell them to him.
And then, ummm, I can’t recall what happened then. It was a pretty boring subplot.
Best part was when Dwight came out of the disastrous presentation realizing that Jim did save his butt … totally speechless for the rest of the episode. Not funny, but very touching. I just wish that they would’ve also fired that looney bin Nellie!
Kevin thought he could turn it around and curry favor with them the same way by performing dares, like singing “Hello, ma baby!” and kissing Meredith, which Meredith seemed to totally be into.
Seeing how Dwight has treated everybody in the past, If I was Jim I wouldn’t have even warned him once. Especially after that E-mail dooms day program where everybody had to go to Schrute Farms and beg for him to turn it off.
Edit, oh, this is funny. While Googling to make sure I got the name of his farm right, I found out that it’s in trip advisor. Schrute Farms Hotel
