A plot: Jim’s jury duty ends in half a day but he stays home for a week. Dwight gets suspicious when Jim refers to Ernesto’s lunch truck as a “restaurant” and tries to expose Jim’s lie and get him fired. When Jim confesses to Andy, Andy suggests a coverup.
B plot: Angela gives birth, a month early, but Oscar immediately catches on that the baby is not a newborn premature baby. Angela finally confesses to Oscar that the baby was conceived before her wedding.
Thoughts: Decent episode. Plenty of the old-fashioned awkward moments, with Jim calling in his wife and children as sympathy reinforcements.
I was totally into Dwight’s glee and was practically cheering for him. The Schrutemeister spawned! Way to go! Cancel the circumcision!
I thought the beginning with the Nard Dog dancing was very funny. He also had a great line in the ep, but I’ll be damned if I can remember what it was.
Thursday was a big night for Jack Coleman, big things happening for his characters on both the Office and Vampire Diaries.
And his characters on both shows are gay, apparently. (That’s not a spoiler for the VD ep, his character was established as gay long before he even became an onscreen character.)
At first, I thought something else was going on with the giant preemie, rather than Dwight being the daddy (though that crossed my mind too, a little before Dwight showed). I was thinking maybe to play up the “state senator is gay” theory of Oscar, that the baby was really adopted and Angela was never really pregnant.
I loved that for all the squirming Jim had to do trying to get everyone to not be mad at him for playing hooky for the week, all it took was the kids showing up at the Office and turning into screaming brats.
