The Office May 5 2011: Worst ever?

As soon as I’m hearing what I wanna hear, I’m not gonna care.

Ditto. The opener with D’angelo acting all tough while making great obviously popular suggestions was great too.

Well said. It’s like the writers couldn’t decide which single crazy direction to take, so they said, “Fuck it, we’ll do a different one each episode. And maybe we can put more than one crazy direction in some episodes, too!”

I don’t blame Ferrell, unless he was involved in writing his character or strongly so in developing his character. But it just seems so poorly planned out. A shame, because if they had gone one direction, Ferrell probably could have done a really solid job with it.

There were some funny moments, but Will Ferrell needs to GTFO immediately.

As an aside, WTF happened to Will Ferrell? I used to think he was at least marginally funny as a comedic actor, but now his funniness factor is in the negatives. Even in the preview that played as an ad on Hulu for some upcoming shit movie he’s starring in, he just seems like this tremendous drag. I think it’s time for him to take his mountains of cash and retire from showbusiness with at least a miniscule shred of dignity.

Well, he can still be funny.

You mean Everything Must Go? It’s not really a comedy, it’s a drama.

He in an odd position. With Michael, Jim was the golden child. He could do no wrong. He spent a good chunk of his day (the part that he wasn’t tormenting Dwight) trying to get Michael to leave him alone. All of a sudden he’s getting nothing from Deangelo and he, understandably, doesn’t know how to react to this. Luckily for him though, he’s a good salesman (#2 IIRC), so it’s more of a social thing.

Regarding the basketball dunk from the free throw line. I was kinda hoping he would make it. Just so that it would have felt like these last few episodes were building up to something. All the stupid crap that Deangelo has been doing that’s been pissing the audience off and the writers could say, yeah, he’s the real thing. When he missed the shot it felt like the’ve wasted the last few episodes for no reason at all.

Missed? I thought he made the shot and then hung from the rim.

He jumped from the free throw line, sort of stumbled, took a few more steps, then took another jump and dunked from there.
What he claimed he could do was dunk from the free throw line…like Michael Jordon.

ETA, but I remember feeling like I missed something because everyone sounded impressed, but I assumed they were just sucking up to him.

i also wished that he would have been able to do it.

Re: Jim sucking up…

But remember how hard he did it for Charles as well? Remember ’ Jim the soccer enthusiast?’

I’m not sure why Gabe was kissing ass, unless he was just desperate to be one of the cool kids - he’s supposed to be outside the chain of command the way Toby is, right?

It’s funny that Kevin was the one sitting under the hoop considering he’s a free throw genius.

He’s the only one stupid enough not to realize that if Deangelo actually could dunk, “under the hoop” is right where he’s going to land.
Of course that’s not saying a lot for Deangelo either. If I were dunking I wouldn’t want to land on someone.

He actually grabbed onto the net and pulled himself up to complete the ‘dunk’. Doesn’t really count as a dunk, and it’s one of the reasons the goal fell on top of him.

I’m also pretty sure he used Kevin as a stepping stone.
