I liked the episode, I’m not sure if it was that much more over-the-top than most other episodes. Jim, (who said he’s not a ‘suck up’ before), and Pam were a little out of character, so was Darryl. But I’m looking forward to see where they go with this…
A couple of chuckles, but mostly boring for me. I did laugh at Erin’s “Dunder Mifflin, this is.” Andy’s anguish at now being the ‘funny guy’ was amusing also. Ferrell tending to be somewhat of a psycho could be good for some amusement.
I thought it was okay, but not great. I think the problem that having both Michael and Vincent is a little too much; I didn’t really get a sense of Vincent’s character. I did laugh at the peanut allergy thing.
He actually played the role fairly understated (for him, at least). It was mostly everyone acting crazy around him. The only time he was really “wacky” was during the whole peanut thing.
I don’t think this was Michael being angry about not being the center of attention as has happened in the past. I think this was the Michael way of dealing with being replaced which is natural in this circumstance.
I wasn’t looking forwrad to this but will ferrell worked fine. I also recently saw The Other Guys for the first time and it was much better than I expected so he has impressed me twice
BTW I was on his side in the fight over the phone. “Dunder-Mifflin, this is Pam (or Erin)” always seemed weird to me.
DeAngelo is such an unusual name… I wonder if it’s a weird nod to The Wire, given that another new-boss-at-Dunder-Mifflin was Charles (I think), played by Idris Elba, from The Wire, and DeAngelo is the name of a major character from The Wire. Or am I reaching?
Anyhow, a decent episode, not great.
