The Office; "The Delivery" (open spoilers)

It seems like you do relate to it. You recognize it as being a criticism of our crappy health care system.

His car probably did seize up. They went to the hospital in Jim’s car.

It would have been cooler if the car had actually been towed as the sign right above the car indicated. Hospitals don’t screw around with ambulance entrances.

FTR, the federal Newborn’s Act of 1996 makes it illegal to restrict hospital benefits for 48 hours after birth, not admission. So this joke is only 14 years out of date. There is some benefit to delivering in the middle of the night, since if the 48 hour clock runs out after normal discharge hours, they have to let you stay until the following morning - e.g. if you deliver at 3 AM on March 11, they can’t discharge you until 8 AM March 13. There’s also a benefit that some plans have that if you voluntarily discharge before the 48 hour clock is up, you get one home visit by a nurse or NP for free. Even if your discharge was at 47 hours 30 minutes after birth.

When Jim came back with the car, he did say something about there being 5 tickets on it. Where he got keys after Michael had thrown them away wasn’t explained though.

Except that the CMC no longer delivers babies. Haven’t for quite a while. They were at a different hospital. :dubious:

Anyway, I’ve been trying to find Kevin’s line of encouragement for Pam. Something like “Do it for Ultrafeast!” Does that sound about right?

I think the nurse’s lanyard read Moses Taylor Hospital, although I doubt that they filmed on-site.

I imagine Pam had a key, if they couldn’t find Jim’s.
