Oh… :o
Pretty soon there will be a very lonely strech of time that wont represent anything at all. August 10th through 17th.
I think that the prospect of Michael becoming Pam’s stepfather is anathema to her. Once that becomes even a remote possibility, all considerations of workplace decorum go out the window.
We know that Michael has a lot of pent-up “daddy” energy. Just imagine that energy being unleashed on Pam, or worse, her child.
I imagine he’s gonna do that anyway, whether he stays with Pam’s mom or not.
True, but it’s going to be much, much worse if he end’s up the child’s stepgrandfather. He’ll actually have an excuse to worm is way into any and all family functions.
Up until now this season has been pretty lukewarm, but this was a great episode. But how did we get to the third page without any mention of Ryan’s great pimp hat?
And who says a mallard isn’t a duck?
I was about to mention that, but then the topic kinda blew up. I love the little doses of Ryan we’ve been getting. He’s still the same douche he’s been since he became the boss, but now he doesn’t have any of the power.
It is absolutely delusional to think that this relationship will not affect Pam. The first argument, the first disagreement, the first spat that Michael has w/her mom, he’s going to suck Pam into the drama, using her as emotional leverage, throwing his status as boss to coerce her, sharing too much w/her to her morbid embarrassment, forcing her to choose sides in any conflict, or guilting her into going against her better instincts. He may be a “nice guy”, but he can’t be trusted to be considerate or responsible when it comes to bringing Pam into the fray when it’s expedient for him to do so. He’s run roughshod over her feelings before when the issue had nothing to do with her; what are the odds that he’s going to see the light and keep her out of his personal issues?
Zero.
Damn, Dio, what show are you watching? Your rationalizations for Michael are extreme to the point of ridiculous. Just how strongly do you identify with Michael? You should probably get over your nerd complex and irrational hatred of anyone you perceive as a cool kid, though I totally get how those traits fit in here on the dope. Pretty much every one of your arguments are demonstrably wrong. Michael never mistreated women? Are you friggin’ nuts?
Taking a naked photo of your girlfriend without her knowledge or consent is mistreating her. Sending that naked photo to one coworker is mistreating her. Don’t you dare launch into your retarded “that was an accident” defense; it was not at all an accident that he sent it to someone; he intended to do that. The “everyone” part was the accident, not the act of sending.
When he went on the blind date with that woman he felt wasn’t in his league, he was a complete and utter dick to her. His treatment of that poor woman was a million times worse than Pam’s treatment of him, and even more on point his treatment of that blind date was exactly the kind of “cool kid shunning the nerd” behavior that clearly strikes such a deep chord with you.
Michael has consistently tried to worm his way into Pam’s personal life. It is reasonable to conclude that he doesn’t give a rat’s ass about Pam’s mother, but rather his primary motivation is to get to hang out with Pam and Jim during the holidays. Remember a few short weeks ago when Jim and Pam gave the deadpan apology for not considering how their pregnancy was going to effect him?
I mean, really, do you even watch the show?
Anyone who says that they would not be the least bit upset if their boss Michael Scott were dating their mother is either being dishonest or insane. The guy is a walking train wreck who drags other people into his own personal fires, using his status as boss to do so, and airing all of that dirty laundry for everyone to see. And that’s not even mentioning all of the really rude, clueless, and offensive things he says and does, that could easily hurt said mother or you.
I agree that Pam was being a cunt, but she had good reason to be. To say that this has nothing to do with Pam is laughable; Michael will bring all of this shit to the office and right into Pam’s life- that’s just what he does. Doesn’t excuse her behavior, but it’s very understandable.
Well, if I may throw in my two cents, I wouldn’t want one of my parents crapping in my rice bowl and having an affair with anybody who was in business with me. Now if it happened to be the biggest asshole I knew, like Michael Scott, yes, that would make it worse. It might be wonderful for Michael and Mrs. Beasley while it lasts, but it is going to be sheer hell for me.
Michael Scott is an asshole and a grade A idiot. No, he cannot fuck my mother or my sister without me screaming about it.
I am a little puzzled by this comment. I don’t think Michael and Pam’s Mom are screwing each other to spite Pam. If anything, Pam is the selfish one by attempting to break up their relationship.
On a related note, Pam is becoming an increasingly unpleasant character. She has moved from pre-wedding smugness to post-wedding bitchiness. You know it’s bad when Angela seems pleasant by comparison…
My take on Pam’s reaction is that she feels the utter hopelessness when one has to deal with an un-fireable (is that a word?) idiot at work. (Yeah, I know DM is staffed almost exclusively with such folk) When Pam realized that Michael was going to be much more than just a 40 hour-a-week nightmare, she lost it. Completely understandable if you ask me.
I was in the pothead clique, not with the nerds, but nice try.
This has slowly been sinking in as I’ve read posts like this on this thread and may be totally off the wall, but:
If you turned Michael’s fat comments about Phyllis into black comments about an African-American, he’d be a racist. Same with his gay comments about Oscar.
If someone is considered to be a racist due to their clueless tactlessness about [any racial group] we don’t forgive their racism. Isn’t most racism about ignorance to begin with?
I’m just a casual watcher of the show and appreciate Michael’s cluelessness for it’s comedic value.
Personally, I think Pam was right to be pissed off about Michael dating her mother since all of Michael’s relationships have been portrayed as dysfunctional. Besides, didn’t he make some comment about “doing your mother”. That’d piss anyone off.
How is calling someone fat the same as being a racist?
It’s not but think about where you’re posting. Lot’s of people here feel that way.
My DVR cut off the last seconds. What was Dwight doing at the end? I’m guessing that the bug in the duck was meant to be found, and that he’d hidden a mic. in the pen. That’s what I would do if I were a sneaky person. (Works pretty well, actually.
)
Yep. Then he played the recording and it was Jim describing the different kinds of paper stock to someone.
It isn’t. Read my post (again). I’m just making an analogy.
I’m noting a similarity between the posts here about insensitive things that Michael says about fat people to posts I’ve read elsewhere about insensitive things people say to black people that later exploded into a flame war about racism.
Michael doesn’t seem to discriminate against any race, so therefore he’s not a horrible person. Nevermind the fact that he ridicules fat and unattractive people and bashes gays.
I wonder what he’d do if they introduced a midg…little person into the cast.
Simpsons did it.
