I just got finished watching all the pre-strike episodes on nbc.com, and I am so ready for the show to return on, what, April 10th, is that the day? While I agree that some of the shows have been over-the-top cringeworthy, in general it’s still the only show I really care enough about to keep watching on a regular basis. I have long ago separated it in my mind from the UK version, which I adore. They are just two totally different shows, and that’s fine with me. In fact, I like comparing the differences in tone and intent between the two Michaels. I don’t expect them to be perfect clones.
As a huge fan of the UK version, I was a bit skeptical at first, and didn’t dig the first season 1.
But after a little while I started watching again, starting with season 2 and it’s easily become one of my favourite shows of all time. I used to love coming to this forum and seeing everyone’s analysis of the shows that had just aired.
So I joined the board…!
Anyway, any predictions for the rest of the season? It starts again April 10th. I’m thinking/hoping there’ll be a final split between Michael and Jan.
(first post…woo!)
I’m guessing the Michael-Ryan conflict becomes more open; Ryan’s frustration will reach a point where he fires Michael, then Michael does something that justifies him staying around, something that save’s Ryan’s career (e.g. the website–Ryan’s baby–will screw up some massive order, but the client is saved thru Michael’s usual jovial gladhanding).
Michael and Jan could split, but I don’t think so; I actually think Jan has come to respect Michael more this season.
I also predict trouble for Pam and Jim, specifically that Pam starts to see how much of Jim’s talent is wasted at D-M, and gets restless as his apathetic cynicism. Although he has personal dreams, he doesn’t seem interested in taking a chance on them (as Pam has done with her art hobby), and I think that’s going to start bothering Pam more and more, probably to the point that it threatens the relationship.
Welcome aboard!!
I’d highly recommend watching S.1. It’s not a full 26 episodes, but they are well worth watching. I catch up on series via Netflix.
I think Jan WAS shown to respect Michael (the Train scene), but I’m sure Michael very very betrayed after “The Deposition”. I mean…seriously…how can you stay with a woman who photocopied your diary and handed it out to legal counsel…and TOBY!
Well, there is the sleep apnea mask. She’ll sound like a tiger.
