In 1972 a program appeared over the summer season featuring a fairly well-known English comedian, and an almost completely unknown American animator, both of whom would go on to considerable later fame.
Was it an American or British program?
26. On The Odd Couple Felix overcame his severe stage fright on an episode of The David Steinberg Show by singing a song about what cartoon character? (For bonus points- a recent post on SDMB mentioned this- what condiment did we learn that Lincoln liked from Felix and on what gameshow was he playing?)
What cast member of Maude was IRL the best man at the wedding of David Eisenhower & Julie Nixon? (Hint: he’s far more famous for a later 70s series and for his career when it ended.)
What short lived sit-com about hillbillies moving to California (without millions from an oil strike) starred Buddy Ebsen’s real life daughter? (How pathetic is it that I not only remember the show, I remember it’s themes song, Beat the System, one of the catchiest of the 70s.)
Three from Barney Miller:
a. What was the not-too-rhyming campaign slogan of presidential candidate Alfred Royce (Leonard Frey)?
b. Jack Dodson, bka Howard Sprague on Andy Griffith, made several guest appearances (as different characters) on the show. One of the characters he played was arrested due to an offense involving a bad haircut (or, actually, several bad haircuts). What was the exact offense?
c. What enabled the usually slow and groggy Fish to leap over other cops and run down a much younger suspect?
The answer counts as a small hint. It was originally a British program that was then reedited and aired on American TV. And (hint #2) it aired on network TV, not PBS.
Little Orphan Annie. Steinberg got into it too.
Don’t know the condiment, but would the show be Password?
Rereading the “rules” of this thread, the show in question couldn’t possibly qualify as a “hit.” It ran just over that summer of ‘72. It was a hit in our family, at any rate. Nor could it be called a sitcom, exactly. It was more of a revue.
Although there were plans for a second series, the eccentricities of the star caused some rifts between himself and the producer, who also went on to great fame as the producer of a major ‘70s hit.
So, I guess the question could be rephrased as, “Which producer of a major hit show of the ‘70s also produced a comedy revue show in ’72… etc.”

Felix was famously on **PassWord ** in one episode. I don’t know the Condiment.

You have got to mean Conrad Bain, but I did not know that piece of trivia.

Wojo’s Girlfreind’s Hash Brownies. I would just like to say Mushi, Mushi, Mushi.

Assuming that the SDMB post was correct, Lincoln’s condiment of choice was mayonnaise.
She spun off of Mary and he got a one-shot special off of her. Who was she and who was he?
What debut episode of an unsuccessful Happy Days spin-off featured a guest appearance from the star of a successful Happy Days spin-off? Name the successful character.
Who was Maude’s preferred candidate for President, and what theme song did she suggest for his campaign?
On Alice, what was Mel’s signature dish, and what celebrity did he try to convince to endorse it?
If you’re talking about Blansky’s Beauties, there were actually TWO Happy Days spinoff stars (though only one would have been considered to be from a successful spinoff), Eddie Mekka (Carmine on Laverne & Shirley) and Scott Baio (Chachi). Neither played their character on the other show, though.
Which “Laugh-In” regular appeared as a ditzy secretary on an episode of “MTM”?
The 1970s gave us the only other sitcom involving a genie (besides the obvious one). Name it and the actor who played the genie.
And a couple more:
W1: On an episode of “All in the Family”, a character died in an act of terrorist violence. The actor who played him was a regular on 2 70s sitcoms. Name him and the 2 shows he appeared on.
W2: What was Felix Unger’s reaction when he found out Oscar had met Richard Dawson?
W3: “AITF” again: What “community organization” did Archie unwittingly join, and who were they a front for?
W4: “Barney Miller”: When the Russian diplomat claimed “Diplomatic immunity”, what did Wojo say in response?
The Marty Feldman Comedy Machine , with animations by Terry Gilliam.
IIRC, the sketches were not from British TV, but reshot with American guest stars. I recall Charles Nelson Reilly in a sketch where Marty threatens to take his pants off if Charles didn’t give him 5 bob. The famous “Standard British Bird Book” sketch was also redone.
Then it has to be the even-more-obscure “Out of the Blue”, which was kinda sorta a spinoff of “Mork & Mindy”. The successful character would be Mork, played by Robin Williams.
This one confused me because “Out of the Blue” was a contrived spinoff of “Mork & Mindy” rather than an organic spinoff from “Happy Days”.
Sigmund and the Sea Monsters? (Rip Taylor played a genie on it in some episodes- interestingly, some friends and I once did a hierarchy of show business jobs and ranked “starring in a genie show” as between dinner theater and porn.
It was Gregory Sierra, one of the busiest character actors of the 70s and 80s (still shows up periodically in guest roles). He played a Jewish activist battling neo-Nazis on this episode, but played a Puerto Rican detective on Barney Miller and rival junkman & goat owner Julio on Sanford & Son.
The Kweens Klub** Krusaders. Bonus points: What true story does he tell them about himself at the end to justify leaving them?
Random the Angel appeared on an episode of Happy Days, however, when somehow Fonzie had to battle the devil’s flunky for his soul. Random couldn’t fight the demon himself but he helped- for example, when Fonz is being seduced by a beautiful dancing girl Random gave her Al Molinaro’s face and body.
